Superwoman...you probably didn't make enough money to pay more than 300 dollars in federal income tax, which means you would only get 300 dollars for yourself. Your friend, being single with no dependents, likely had to pay income tax, which enabled her to get a better rebate.

No. The $600 is for married filing jointly who make more than $3000 but who do not make enough to pay income tax (not social security).

A married couple filing jointly that paid income tax would be eligible to receive $1200, as long as their income did not exceed certain limits which would reduce the amount of the rebate.

Well, I know for sure this isn't true.
Our income was over $3,000. and we did pay in federal income tax, both weekly from his pay check, and when we filed taxes.
And the IRS site said to recieve the $1,200. for married filing jointly, you had to make over $85,000. meaning the poorer people got less, and the richer people got more.
None of the information you gave lines up with the offical information found on the IRS web site.

I should clarify. You have to pay enough in income tax to exceed the $600 in order to receive more than the minimum, and you will only receive $1200 if your tax liability is more than that. If your tax liability falls in between, you will get the amount of your tax liability, plus any rebates for qualifying children.

The tax liability does not include FICA.

    I finally got it!

I think I'll go out and fully stimulate the economy
I'll fill up the gas tank in both cars.

Help the grand kids: Tell the IRS to put the e-money on the national debt side of the ledger. Not to worry. Big Brother knows how to manage a dollar. It is all e-money anyway--until China calls in the chits--they will expect gold for all those $100.00 bills we spent at Wally-Mart--or was it mostly credit debt?

I wonder if China will take salt?

This is what the IRS said, not me. So whats your theory why we didn't get the correct amount then if it's for everyone?

Do all American Tax Payers get rebates?

It would seem so, from the title of this thread. But if they do, why? Is everyone overtaxed to start with?

I got mine and converted part of it into a new bed. The memory foam mattresses are great. No more shoulder pain. I guess the rest will go into savings.

what are those beds like? thy aren't too soft are they? do they sink in any, or do they have decent support? we've been interested in one of those. not that we could afford it, but you never know, one day.

It feels very soft but it offers plenty of support. My shoulder needs soft and my back needs extra firm. This bed gives me both. Anyway, my wife and I both love it. And, we didn't by the Temper Pedic. That would have been $3000.00 for a king. Instead we took a chance on a generic one from Overstock.com. It was signifcantly less and we can't tell any difference.
