Hey my political friends, sink your teeth into this youtube.com video. This will be my very last Political Post for about a year, as I must take off to write a book, and tend to my music ministry...so, if you're interested in this, read on:

Of course there is ONE BIG caveat: We can only hope that the "zombies" under Obama's spell wake up in time to make the changes. The problem is, the GOP is not doing much better. As much as I loved Bush, he did some things that made it very easy for Obama and his crew to take the WH without much work. That poor work ethic will have to change, or we just have a vicious cycle here in the US while we sink deeper into a hole that turns us into some form of a third world nation. A nation that "fell like Rome!" A banana republic???:tear:

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul:type:

It will take voting for truly limited government advocates which means voting for very, very, very, very few Republicans(like Rand Paul for U.S. Senate in Kentucky) and even fewer Democrats.

Voting for LiGINO(Limited Government In Name Only) candidates won't cut it.

Wasn't it just a few months ago you were touting Obama - I know you voted for him - and also supporting things like universal gov't health care? What happened in such a short time? You can't say you were fooled by Obama by any measure, since I know you are well-read politically, and it was obvious that Obama was as far off from Libertarian as one can be. So you went from Libertarian to Big Gov't advocate back to Libertarian? Maybe I missed a mea culpa post by you recently, but can you explain your huge shifts politically in such a short span?

    1) No on foreign policy. Just like George W. Bush in 2000, Barack Obama sounded more libertarian on foreign policy during his campaign than he has governed.

    2) I am sorry you missed the explanation a few weeks back.

Of course, I am not the issue. The issue is getting true limited government advocates, such as Rand Paul in Kentucky, in office and not LiGINOs like so many Republicans were in the Congress when they controlled both houses as well as the presidency.

Let's see, if we had limited government I could work for anyone who would hire me, live any place I could afford, go to any church I chose, marry anyone who would have me, keep guns in my house, write nasty things about the president . . . try smoking pot.

Guess I gots to take a vacation to Holland.

I tried to find which thread it was in but I haven't found the right one. Anyway, for what it matters, the gist of it was that I have been a member of the Libertarian Party since 1980 and that regardless of the siren song of being "relevant" by voting for George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004 and Barack Obama in 2008 that I always get frustrated with the two major parties and 99% or more of their office holders and end up continuing my support for the Libertarian Party, the Cato Institute, and the few truly limited government folks in the major parties - such as Ron Paul and Rand Paul - and that I am tired of trying to make myself into something that I am not by supporting either of the major parties. I am a libertarian philosophically and a member of the Libertarian Party and I will be content with remaining there with my votes going forward. Being "relevant" ain't all it is cracked up to be.

Ken, were you libertarian a few months back when you were defending the stimulus plan and universal gov't health care? Those hardly sound like libertarian ideas to me.

From my earlier post in this thread: "I am tired of trying to make myself into something that I am not by supporting either of the major parties"

So because you voted for Obama, you felt like you needed to support all his policies, even ones that are as far from libertarian principles as possible?
