Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM)
Who: Dr. Arthur Robinson of the OISM
What: release of names in OISM "Petition Project"
When: 10 AM, Monday May 19
Where: Holeman Lounge at the National Press Club, 529 14th St., NW, Washington, DC

Why: the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) will announce that more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition rejecting claims of human-caused global warming. The purpose of OISM's Petition Project is to demonstrate that the claim of "settled science" and an overwhelming "consensus" in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climate damage is wrong. No such consensus or settled science exists. As indicated by the petition text and signatory list, a very large number of American scientists reject this hypothesis.

It is evident that 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science - including 9,021 PhDs, are not "a few." Moreover, from the clear and strong petition statement that they have signed, it is evident that these 31,072 American scientists are not "skeptics."

The fallacy of man made global warming is losing steam and will go into the historical archives of embarrassing failures just like the pending ice age of the 70's.

Unfortunately your stats you got there are NOT indicative of what the data shows.

If there are 40,000 such 'scientists' then 3/4 of them are blilnd to Global Warming. BTW, 'Americans with university degrees in science' DUH, I've got two of them. I'm not a Scientist. Goodness, isn't the whole field of University dividted between Degrees in Science and Degrees in Art?

    At this site:
    http://www.nsf.gov/statistics/us-workforce/1999/tables/TableA4.pdf

in 1999 there were nearly 11,000,000 people in the US workforce with all 'science degrees': 6Mil Bachelors, 3Mil Masters 736,700 Doctrate. So 30K is only Three Tenths of one PerCent in other words 'a few'.

Strange, my study of the history of the 'pending ice age of the 70's' indicates that it didn't start until Google did, about 1999.

Tee Hee, if you Google // "pending ice age of the 70's" // right now (18 May 2008, 2320CDT) you get three 'hits' - one of them is the opening post (OP) :)

Also, in the 1970s 'pending ice age' would have mean in 10,000 to 40,000 years. Today's 'Global warming' is a problem NOW and will get much worse in ten years, unless we do something about it NOW.

Ed shakes head wondering why he can't get to do all the GOOD proofs of Global Warming  Bro. Revmitchell's has shown: the natural climate change going on now should be GLOBAL COOLING (say it was minus 1% per year) but is GLOBAL WARMING (say +4% per year) but these add together -- the earth is now 5% more now than what the 'global cooling in the 1970s predicted.

I even agree with your "nor are we headed for disaster". WE ARE THERE! "we are NOT headed there. And it will get worse the longer we dally around.

Blow up a SUV for Jesus! :praying:

BTW, your source says: " ... Schneider's paper suggested that the cooling effect of dirty air could outweigh the warming effect of carbon dioxide, potentially leading to an ice age if aerosol pollution quadrupled. //

So we desided as a country to REDUCE AEROSOL. And we did! No i'm used to running my own pump of Sun Screen -- I've got no abs but I sure got a first class muscular index finger! (note that runaway aerosol in the upper atmosphere causes more of the ultra-violet sun rays that cause skin cancer - thus I need less sun screen because you quit causing so much aerosol polution. I still have skin cancer but it is less than if we as a country had continued to use aerosol willy-nilly.

I'm really going to be hacked if you fundamentalists get me killed cause you wouldn't even admit there was a problem with Global Warming.

I'll be equally upset if you get killed driving one of those sardine cans all those Christ-denying liberals are guilt-tripping you into driving.

    Blow up your own SUV*

*caveat: Ed will NOT be held accountable if you do stupid stuff like blowing up someone else's SUV, you blow up your SUV with a Meth Lab gone awry, or you illegally blow up your own SUV in an unlawful manner. Be sure to consult with your lawyer before blowing up your own SUV so you will adhere to all local, county, state, federal, and international rules, laws, zoning ordinances, morals, etc.

Perchance the 'complaint' should find companionship through marriage -- then the 'complaint' would not still be 'single' and we can say:

This is the married dumbest "complaint" I've ever read at BB.

So now you're claiming that anyone who drives a compact car is a "Christ denying liberal." An expected statement.

Didn't say anything like that, and you know it. Nice try. Switching people's words around is a poor debate tactic, but judging by yer posting history, credibility ain't a goal you aspire to......

Global Warming seems to be continually picking up steam. I mean the idea is picking up steam more and more and yet there are so many scientists and intellectuals who dismiss it as a hoax. Yet you never hear about them in the mainstream media. You only hear about Al Gore. You only hear about this stuff from politicians.
