In the USA TODAY poll, six in 10 Americans said the United States should set a timetable for withdrawal and stick to it no matter what. Just 35% said U.S. troops should remain until the situation in Iraq gets better, a number as low as it's ever been.

Thankfully, poles don't mean anything. They are notoriously inept, and can be easily slanted in any direction.

What citizens think doesn't matter to the state anymore. It'll be our empty treasury that'll be the deciding factor in whether we stay or not.

If asked, eight out ten Americans would probably want the government to provide them with "free" food, housing, gasoline, medical care, vacations, and casino chips.

The only thing polls are good for is holding up power lines and such.

    Amen to that Dragoon!

Lord knows only one in ten can even find Iraq on a map.

It is fortunate for all of us that we currently have a President who does not govern by poll.

It is unfortunate that we have a president who cares little for the wishes of the American people or the Constitution.

Anyone who wishes for a "living constitution" has absolutely no concern for what the constitution says, only what you can make it say. Your concern for the constitution is disingenuous at best.

If this IS a reliable poll (doubtful), then all it truly shows is that 6 out of 10 Americans are naive to a fault (giving them the benefit of the doubt).

Either that or they are incredibly stupid.

Can't you just see the results of announcing in '44 that the US will withdraw their troops from Europe by June 25th? The third reich would have done no more than pester us on D-Day, like a cat toying with its captive mouse.

    Stupidity to the extreme!!!!!!!!!

Heaven help us when we are "ruled" by polls!

Liberalism is showing its utter lack of sanity more every day!!!!!

A recent Pew Research poll shows that 53% of Americans believe the U.S. effort in Iraq will succeed, up 6 points from February 2007.

The poll shows 65% of Americans believe the U.S. has an obligation to establish a reasonable level of stability and security in Iraq before withdrawing troops.

63% of Americans believe al Qaeda would be more likely to use Iraq as a base if the U.S. withdrew its troops.

Not if one reads the OP poll numbers carefully.

OP: 6 out 10 Americans Want a Timetable Set for Withdrawal of Our Troops From Iraq

    Of course, 6 out of 10 Americans can't find Iraq on a map...so it's a good thing we're not a democracy sometimes.

(not really a pro- or anti-war statement. More of a statement that these polls often survey some pretty ignorant people)
