The Supreme Court on Monday opened up another avenue for smokers to sue tobacco companies, but 71% of U.S. voters say the companies should not be held liable for health problems that current smokers develop.

As an ex-smoker I say it is the hight of stupidity to light something on fire and intentionally inhale the smoke from it. That right there should be the begining and the end of responsibility.

What's your excuse that makes you not responsible?
    It was peer pressure
    I have an addiction gene
It was the allure of the Marlboro Man
The tobacco companies laced the cigarettes with extra nicotine
It's my parent's fault because they smoked
Everyone else was smoking and I didn't want to look out of place
    I thought it looked cool
    It made me look glamorous
It tasted better than Rabbit Grass
It helped to keep the weight off

As my late Daddy-in-Law used to say, "There's a fire on one end, and a fool on the other."

Also, I never understood why some people had such a hard time quitting. It was easy for me. In fact, I bet I quit at least 20 times.

Seriously, I did quit time after time, but one day as I was driving home from work, I pulled the remainder of a pack I had bought around noon, pulled the filter off, field-stripped the rest and haven't touched, OR, note OR, had the slightest desire for a butt since - this was in 1/82.

All I can say is "Thank you Lord!!!!!"

The court system nor any amount of money can fix stupid.

The dangers of smoking have been public knowledge for over 40 years.

The first time you inhale and you almost choke to death that should be a clue.
