WOW! This is an amazing story. Talk about having God's hand of protection around you at just the right time and in just the right place. This is one child definitely blessed with God's favor and protected by His angels.

Praise to the Lord Almighty :godisgood:

While it is possible-----it is not always probably that a Bible could stop a bullet

There were reported cases of such occurances(Bibles stopping bullets) during World War II----stories circulated of troops whos Bible stopped a German bullet, etc

So-----story goes as stories always go-----scores of GI's would take their little Red Cross issue NT Bible and place it in their front pen pockets in front of their hearts

Unfortunetely-----not every Bible stopped the razing bullets---and when troops would hear stories of Bibles stopping bullets---it was generally in someone else's outfit----Know what I mean?? Untold thousands of GI's died with Bibles on their possesion!!!!

I'll put it to you this way

Just because I have a NT Bible in my pen pocket in front of my heart----doesn't mean I'm gonna stand there and let you aim your rifle at me and squeeze the trigger!!!!!

When the Lord says "today thy soul is required of thee" you will go

Since the NLT has more words, a giant print NLT would be safer than a regular KJV.... because it would be thicker....

I have one of the metal Bibles... NLT inside, metal case surrounding it... pretty cool looking.

I'm not saying it wasn't a good story, TC

What I'm saying is----its not an absolute---having a Bible on ones possession does not guarantee absolute protection like its some sort of force field or something where bullets just ricochet off of it

Just because you have a Bible on your possession doesn't mean you won't get robbed in the grocery store parking lot or mugged in a bad section of town

Personally---I would chalk the story up as coinsidental---doesn't mean that the Lord "must have something special for the little lad to accomplish later in life so He sent His angels to protect"---that the little fella is still here and breathing is a blessing

It was just a good story that happens from time to time, thats all

    Your friend,
    Blackbird

You make some valid comments Blackbird, but I also like to think that God might've had a wee small hand in the background, IMO

Yes, and I don't think we should be mystical about it. I agree with what you're saying.

It could have been any other book, but it happened to be a Bible, a children's Bible.

But who knows what lessons can be learned from that episode?

    It wasn't a "bullet'; it was a "pellet" from a 12-gauge shotgun.

The war museum over in England has a bible with a bullet stopped in it... hence the name of the Green Day concert dvd... "bullet in a bible".
