There have been several threads pounding moderators as of late, and my opinion is that it is totally unjustified. There are several reasons.

The first is that each of them gives their time and effort for free to keep a check on the posts to stay within the rules. Sometimes I think we forget this is a private endeavor, and it is a priviledge to post, not a right.

Secondly, as Christians, we should not have to be monitored. Like the thread about the after church crowd at restaurants being rude, demanding and cheap, there is no excuse for it. It should never happen.

I have been guilty of a back and forth insult before, but while not making excuses, with me, it is always because I get too involved in an issue like the character of Mitt Romney. That is quite different from the poster who sets out to cause trouble, troll, and create havoc regardless of the post.

When it comes to an issue, I treat moderators the same as anyone else. For example, Lady Eagle and I have been back and forth about Romney several times. However, we also have a common bond of having attending the Constitution Party National Convention. There is an important difference here. I treat her as any other member when discussing an issue, but I have not, and will not attack her or any other moderator's method of controlling the bad posts. I have never done the job, and have no idea what it would be like, or how much time it would take. It sounds like one of those thankless jobs that is liable to get lots of people mad at you. It reminds me of the pew sitters in church that never lift a finger to do a thing, but are quite quick to criticize when the pot luck food is not warm enough or the van is late.

I think each of us need to keep our emotions in check with short fuse issues. All of us know them, Calvinism, KJVO, length of time for Creation, closed communion, moderation in drinking, no dancing, etc, etc. Of course, politics is always going to open a can of worms. My problem in being guilty of this is taking a post personally and starting an insult back and forth. I do not set out to troll or create trouble. All of us could work on that.

For those who do troll for a living, why not just leave. While some of this is a debate forum, there is also an element of edification. Just the other day, everyone saw the posts with every curse word that man has invented, and then some. That is not necessary.

My hat is off to all the moderators, especially those in the political section, and the theology section. Besides Lady Eagle and Romney, I have had debates with DHK over issues in other denominations. And Skandelon, I just like to go back and forth with him for a few posts every now and then because he is fun to jab at.

To all the moderators, administrators, and the owners, thank you for all you do, as I have learned lots from this board, and it seems to be a significant part of my life.

There are some people here who feel evidently that if they don't want to discuss a subject then no one should be allowed to have a discussion on that subject.

Sure I post alot of threads with alternative views. Does that mean people should be allowed to come to those threads and insult me and try to shut the thread down or just turn it into a shouting match just because they don't care to take part in a discussion?

These people call themselves Christians but they don't act it when they're trying to shut my threads down. Mostly they act like children that have no respect. And one in particular does this in a most cowardly fashion. Once in a while I expect someone to give me a hard time. Many have and that's okay. I expect it. It's goes with the nature of what I am posting.

But what I don't expect is to have three or four people follow me around the board for months at a time flinging insults at me and doing everything they can to shut down my threads.

I find it rather hard to believe the mods here haven't noticed it. It's been an ongoing thing for several months now. If I hit that report button everytime one of these people come to my threads ands starts insulting me and hijacking my threads I'd wouldn't have time to do anything but rat people out.

Is it too much to ask that people (Christian people) act like grownups instead of fourth grade brats?

Yeah the mods are nice people. I've had many discussions with all of them I got no problem with them as people and I now that a board of this size isn't easy to manage but still there's no reason to allow rude childish acts to continue for months at a time without so much as a "hey now that's alittle over the top" from the mods.

This kind of thing was always nipped in bud in years past. It just seems like this kind of bahavior has become acceptable now. I just wanted to know why.

I find your posts refreshing, and hope that when I have disagreed you did not take it that way.

    Uh.

Lend others the same grace as you give to yourself?

Friend, at the same time you say you're not making an excuse for yourself, you immediately do make one.

Just because a topic isn't of interest to you, and you see others 'blah blahing' in it doesn't mean the topic of any less importance than the ones you do the same things in.

Yep. I agree and have seen the above. One rushes into a thread of a subject to take those involved in it to task for debating the topic, giving them a hard time about it, then you see the same arguing within another thread on another topic...of course, the only reason they're getting bent in the other thread and topic is because they've gotten 'too involved' but they're justified.

If you have no interest in this thread, maybe you should stay out of it. The purpose of the thread was to show appreciation for the moderators, not an instant analysis of my short comings. Your counseling sessions for members of your local church must be a hoot.

Actually the OP was both: A commendation of moderators and a self-analysis of your actions. So I commented on the latter. There were no rules to only comment upon part of the OP.

Hey bro, I've pointed out the truth of the matter here. It's up to your honor to accept or reject it, and see, or not see, how you justify yourself for getting heated (because you got 'too involved') which is an excuse for your behavior, and at the same time you judge and condemn others for the EXACT same thing you do.

I've simply pointed out the truth of the matter, and honestly, if this OP were truly done in a repentant attitude you would've accepted this. Instead it appears to be a post to justify your behavior while condemning others for the same things you do within different topics of discussion.

No need for an unfounded personal attack on my ministry. I've stuck to the facts presented, no need to assume and attack. When I have counselled, I stick to words spoken and to facts, and only those honest to face up and own up get help. I've done the same here.

This is a debate forum and people will analyze what you've stated.

Extend to others the same grace you extend to yourself.

Now to address the other part of the OP I appreciate the admins I have had correspondence with. As far as when I have been rude, combative &c, that is all on me and I chose to do so, and at times I feel it was necessary, and at other times not. :saint: :love2:

No not at all. I expect people to disagree with me that's natural. The times you and I have disagreed if I remember correctly didn't turn into a shouting match. Maybe we had some back and forth but I don't remember it.

Matter of fact I agree with you more often than not SN. Maybe I shouldn't of said that hope you don't wind up on the "hit list" I find myself on now.

You are basically right. I had no right to say that. It does not take a lot to set me off on certain issues. You are also correct about interest in subjects. For example, a subject that I perceive that only the Lord knows for sure, like free will vs sovereignty or the mix thereof, it seems the endless debate is fruitless. However, I really had no right to disrupt the time that I did. Someone who likes to debate Calvinism probably thinks my pounding Romney for his pro abortion and pro gay rights stance is also a waste of time. I see your point and it is well taken.

The only thing I was trying to say was that I do not plan to start threads for the purpose of disruption, trolling, or flaming, which I consider worse. You are right though, there is no excuse for letting our emotions get uncivil, whether it is you, me, or anyone else.

I must have an odd sense of humor...

Saturneptune having just spent months impugning the moral integrity of just about anyone that came within spitting distance of one of his Romney rants...

Now feels that he is of the proper standing to teach the rest of us how to play nice?

And poncho who maligns the intelligence of anyone who doesn't buy into his conspiracy theories...

Wants moderators to censure and ban others?

I am sorry, but I just can't help but find this all to be very funny.

Really? I find it amusing that you think I malign people's intelligence. Most people here are intelligent enough they just lack information. The information you and your ilk keep trying to deny them.

What exactly is it that bothers you about me Targus. Might as well get it out in the open and let the air hit it. I can take more than my fair share of abuse but you go above and beyond. It's not enough for you to disagree with me or insult me you have to try and shut down any topic I start.

What gives you that right? Who are you to say what people can talk about here and what they can't?

Oh and BTW. My so called "conspiracy sites" are quicky replacing your old corporate controlled media.

Seems that the corporate media isn't so trusted anymore. But after being caught in one lie after another it shouldn't come as any surprise.

Yer side is losing partner. Better get used to it and adjust or bury your head further in the sand. People are waking up and there's nothing you can do about it.

    My side?

I don't know where you get that.

Do you suppose that I am piloting those black helicopters?

I don't stop you from discussing anything, I just think that most of your OP topics are fantasy based conspiracy stuff.

So that gives you the right to visit my threads and act juvenile, change the subject and hijack them, constantly?

If my stuff bothers you that much choose to be someplace else. You have no authority to censor me or my threads.

Yeah your side you know the people who only believe what the corporations tell them through their controll of the mass dream media.

The alternative media what you call "conspiracy sites" like you've been trained to do by the mass dream corporate media that's losing the infowar is exploding. The corporate media by contrast is imploding and imho it's high time too. They don't want you to be informed they want you to be uniformed and servile and buy their master's products and vote for their master's puppets. And they want you to go around repeating their contrived talking points till the cows come home. Something you excell at my friend.

People are sick of the lies, manipluation and misinformation being passed of as "news" by a handful of (6) mega conglomerated corporate echo chambers.

    That's your side and it's losing . . . big time.

Agreed. That's what happens in revivals. Owning up, making no excuses, loving Christ above all things. I say all things here in love to a brother. God bless you my brother.
