    Obama Video

There is no 'dirty trick' to it at all. The actual video with sound and all is on other sites. The CNN link only shows a still photo cut from the video. In the entire video, Obama stands just as you see him in this picture, through the entire length of the national anthem.

Another list has discussed other occasions where he has done the same thing, either absentmindedly "forgetting" what he should or it mind is somewhere else.

My opinion is that Mr. Obama cannot be trusted. Raised by a Wahabi Muslim and as a Muslim for much of his childhood, I do not believe he just 'walked away' from Islam and attended Catholic school.

We already have a state representative and a mayor who have taken their oath of office with their hand on a Koran rather than the Holy Bible. The more Muslim polititians we elect to office, the sooner we're be living under Shari'a Law.... We better learn by what Europe is enduring right now because they are living OUR future in America unless something changes here pretty soon. Sorry to get off on a rant but, the Islamization of America is something we cannot afford to allow to continue. I think Mr. Obama would show his true colors if he is elected to office.

Well I guess you can't trust me either; I don't stand at attention during the national anthem, and I doubt you do either. Please don't be a hypocrite.

You can trust me, because I do stand, at attention, during the anthem. I usually cheer & clap like a madman after.

I think it's disgusting he would allow himself to be seen in a public place sitting during the anthem. Shame on him.

Obama standing there during the national anthem is the way I have done it my entire life. What is wrong with it?

Do you have any proof or is this just a smear attempt on our part?

It's sign language. The other 3 give the sign the really want to be President. Obamma gave the sign he doesn't.

I'm not going to vote for any of those guys in the picture (especially Tom Harkin's wife since I don't think she's running), but when I got the picture in an email - with some fairly harsh wording, I did some digging.

The gal in the CNN report said that part of the code is to face the flag. None of them are doing that. To call Obama out for not having his hand over his heart when none of them are following code just doesn't seem right. Something should have been said about the rest of them too. The email I got and most of what I found only addressed him (from the ones that were fussing about him).

Also, there is an effort to link this to him not saying the pledge. That was the basis for my email. I could find no support for this.

This CNN report was much fairer than some of the stuff I read.

Dagwood, don't call me a hypocrit. I have lead and sung our national anthem more times than you've probably heard it! If your intention was to 'bait' me into a response, it has worked.

And, I most certainly do stand at attention when our national anthem is played. I have invested four years in our Marine Corps and fought in Viet Nam doing my duty to protect what our flag stands for and continue to do so.

I wonder if you're bold enough to apologize as you are to accuse? You've pushed the wrong button here! You are right about one thing - I don't trust anyone who doesn't stand during our national anthem!

Yes. I'm not one to pass information on things I cannot veriify myself.

Here is one of the most credible links on the subject:

    http://www.insightmag.com/Media/MediaManager/Obama_2.htm

There are other sources if you care to do a little searching on the 'net.

There appears to be a lot of "sources this" and "sources that" in that article.

Thanks for responding with your link. :)

It's all rather irrelevant anyway. Hillary Clinton has the Democratic Party presidential nomination and the general presidential election all sewn up for 2008.

You need to learn to read better. I said, "Don't be a hypocrite; I didn't;t accuse you of being one.

I don't care how many years you invested in the Marine Corps, it has nothing to do with the national anthem.

I wonder if you're bold enough to apologize as you are to accuse? You've pushed the wrong button here! You are right about one thing - I don't trust anyone who doesn't stand during our national anthem!
    .[/QUOTE]

So, if you are watching a ball game in your house, you spring to attention when the national anthem is being played?

BTW, I have nothing to apologize for.

I predict Obama will be president... Maybe not in the 2008 election... but in a few yrs out...

There is a spiritual battle around this man... I can't explain it, but you can see it.

Over a year ago, there were a series of threads that included "I was in Vietnam are you were not" type of posts. They produced nothing for the subject at hand. Many, many of our generation were in Vietnam.

This is a man I would never vote for in the first place, so what he does or does not do, is not of consequence. It is rather dumb to not stand at attention and put your hand on your heart during the National Anthem and the Pledge. I have read in some references that the hand is not put on the heart during the National Anthem, but not sure about that, and I will continue to do it.

It has never been a question for me. Either one, I do that. In fact, at times, since I did it so many times, I find myself starting to salute.

Tim, I agree with you. One day this man is going to be President.

Choctawman, a salute to you and your service. Thanks.

I've always stood at attention during the anthem, and hand over heart when pledging allegiance. Apparently wrongly. I see many doing it either way. Obama is wrongly attacked on this issue, but I believe he'll provide many grievous stances, against the Christian community, and conservatism as time goes along.

We were taught that you not only stand at attention, face the flag, but you also sing the national anthem when it is played. This has fallen out of practice unfortunately, and people look at me funny when my family is the only one singing the Star-Spangled Banner while the high school band plays it at football games. Oh well, I don't mind the looks. And I love singing the anthem!

    General Comment:

Let's not allow love for country to replace love for God and love for our fellow man. Personally I am more interested in his ideas than how he stands during the national anthem. Did it every cross anyone's mind that he could be tired, sick, or something like that? Let's not be so quick to throw stones at someone. If it were Bush that was filmed standing like Obama was, I am sure many of the people here who are bashing Obama would be defending Bush. Politics is a dangerous game because it leads so many people into hypocrisy, dishonesty which leads people to hell (Rev 21:8), and compromise. It also leads people away from what are the truly important issues in elections. When we elect a president we need to elect someone based on their ideas (etc) and not based on gotcha politics. We should vote against, or for, Obama because of his ideas and not because of his skin color, religion, or posture.

I will vote against Obama, Rudy, Hillary, Romney, and McCain for the same reason...they are all big government liberals! I think this country has forgotten what a true conservative looks like (limited government, low taxes, humble foreign policy, etc).
