    Rev. Donald Lynn Whaley, 53, of 509 Clarks Ferry Road, Ledbetter, formerly of Raleigh, N.C., died Tuesday, May 18, 2004.

    Donald was born Oct. 13, 1950, in Wake County to Edgar Harold Whaley and Mae Walker Whaley. Donald attended Governor Morehead School in Raleigh, graduated from Millbrook High School in Raleigh and subsequently graduated from Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, N.C.

    Having a fervent love for music since age 4, Don was an accomplished musician, touching many lives as he dedicated his music and life to God through his evangelistic ministry. Don will be greatly missed by his wife, Patricia, his parents and sisters, as well as his family and friends.

    Surviving are his wife, Patricia Cox Whaley; his parents, Edgar Harold Whaley and Mae Walker Whaley; two stepchildren, Brent E. Wilson and his wife, Sandy, of Paducah, and Chastity F. Wring and her husband, Daren, of Ledbetter; two grandchildren, Caleb Wilson and Joshua Wilson; a twin sister, Debbie Human and her husband, Mike, of Winston-Salem; a sister, Brenda Smith and her husband, Phillip, of Knightdale, N.C.; one niece, Sarah Smith and her fiancé, Rob Lowery; one nephew, Phillip Wayne Smith and his wife, Lisa; and two great-nephews, Tyler Smith and Tanner Smith.

    Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2004, at East Wake Church of God in Wendell, N.C. Burial will be in Raleigh Memorial Park.

    The family will receive relatives and friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, N.C. 27545; and other times at the home of Edgar and Mae Whaley, 3100 Venus Drive, Raleigh, N.C. 27604.

    Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to East Wake Church of God, P.O. Box 1628, Wendell, N.C. 27591.
