Anyone notice, the REAL king of flip-flops, Geo. Bush, and his latest one?

First he says he will fire anyone in his administration found to have leaked the name of an undercover CIA agent.

Then when it comes out that Rove did that, he flip flops and says he will fire anyone who is found to have commited a criminal act in regards to said leak.

    FLIPPITY FLOPPITY FLEW!

Actually, Scott McClellan said one of those things and Bush said the other.

Looks like others have noticed, given the number of websites I just Googled up.

OK, McClellan (speaking for the WH said it), and Bush confirmed it:

Maybe it's just me, but wouldn't it be a good idea to wait until we find out whether or not anybody actually did anything?

Especially since Joe Wilson's story is falling apart faster than Donovan McNabb in the Superbowl.

This is not about Rove's guilt or innocence. It is about Mr. Flip Flop doing yet another.

Yes. Rove is just a pawn in the LIBS political game of get the president. Thanks for clarifying that for us, MP.

Anyone remember this statement by Hillary in 1998?
    -----------
A most interesting exchange on Today came as Lauer asked Mrs. Clinton to ponder whether we should ask for a president's resignation if he had an adulterous liaison in the White House and lied to cover it up.
She replied, "If all that were proven true, I think that would be a very serious offense. That is not going to be proven true . . . ."
    --------------

That might qualify as a flip-flop.
The Rove thing is a political gotcha. It was common knowledge in DC that Plame worked for the CIA.

    (1) Flip-Flop #1: Bush has flip-flopped about whether capturing Osama Bin Laden is an important priority for his administration.
FLIP: A week after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Bush said he wanted Osama Bin Laden "dead or alive."

FLOP: But he told reporters six months later, "I truly am not that concerned about him. It's not that important. It's not our priority." He also did not mention bin Laden in his hour-long convention acceptance speech this year.

Bush didn't order U.S. troops into Tora Bora to capture Osama Bin Laden right after the Afghanistan invasion. Instead, he relied on warlords who were of dubious loyalty and ability to find Osama Bin Laden and other members of Al Qaeda in that mountainous region. Later, when Iraq became this administration's priority, it shifted special forces from Afghanistan (where they had been searching for Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda members to Iraq).

What Bush has said about bin Laden at various points in time, depending on how he was trying to spin things:

FLIP: Capturing Osama Bin Laden is the number one priority:

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him." G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

Washington Post, 9/17/01, UPI: Bush said he wants accused terrorist leader Osama bin Laden "dead or alive.” “I want justice...There's an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, 'Wanted: Dead or Alive,'"- G.W. Bush, 9/17/01, UPI

AP, 12/14/01: President Bush pledged anew Friday that Osama bin Laden will be taken "dead or alive."

FLOP: Capturing OBL no longer a priority:

G.W. Bush, 3/13/02: I don't know where Bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."

"...Secondly, he is not escaping us. This is a guy, who, three months ago, was in control of a county [sic]. Now he's maybe in control of a cave. He's on the run. Listen, a while ago I said to the American people, our objective is more than bin Laden. But one of the things for certain is we're going to get him running and keep him running, and bring him to justice. And that's what's happening. He's on the run, if he's running at all. So we don't know whether he's in cave with the door shut, or a cave with the door open -- we just don't know...."
    - Bush, in remarks in a Press Availability with the Press Travel Pool, The Prairie Chapel Ranch, Crawford TX, 12/28/01, as reported on official White House site

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
    - G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
    - G.W. Bush, responding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts, 3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02) ]

Someone should get that Darrel Worley song and
blast it with loud speakers at the white house

How can it be a "flip flop" for him not to fire Karl Rove when we don't know that Rove has done anything?

The truth is, that you would say that you want Rove to be fired regardless of whether or not he's actually done anything says a lot more about you than it does about President Bush.

Wow. Some of you folks are unbelievable. If Bush ate with his elbows on the table at supper time you would blast him for that.

On September 30, 2003, Bush said "If there is a leak out of my administration I want to know who it is, and if that person has violated law, that person will be taken care of."

So right there Bush has said if anyone, and that includes Rove, has committed a crime, or violated a law (which means the same thing to me) will be taken care of. Which in my book means fired.

Then I think it was last month Bush said, "I would like this to end as quickly as possible so we know the facts and if someone committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration."

    That is a flip flop?

Well Magnetic Poles, I went and read the 50 flip flops (They are up to 58 now, does that mean it is a comprehensive list?). I have to ask if that is the best the Bush haters could do? Is this the same group that said it was good that Kerry was able to change his mind after additional facts came to light on any issue?

Let us look at your top 10:

    1. Osama Bin Laden, ok Aslanspal covered this pretty well. No quotes were used fresher than 3 years ago. Is Osama even still alive? If he is still out there we will get him. I think the consensus on that Seal sniper team that got shot up was that they were following a possible lead on Osama. I think dispatching a sniper team indicates that we as a nation still want to reach out and touch this guy.
    2. Participation of Baathists in the new Iraqi government. Gee, they changed one of Paul Bremer’s policies after he was replaced. They want to involve as many Iraqi’s as possible in their new government. That sounds like a good idea to me. That’s #2?
    3. The establishment of an independent council to study 911.
    4. Adopting the recommendations of that council.
    5. Winning the war on terror.
    6. Storage of nuclear waste in Nevada.
    7. The assault weapons ban (thank God that expired).
    8. Statements on US nation building during his administration and Clinton’s.
    9. Creation of the Homeland Security Department.
    10. Testimony before the 911 commission.

So 8 of your top 10 really have to do with the war on terror. Then you have gun control and the storage of nuclear waste. I think I would support President Bush on every one of these issues as well as Rove.

This is supposedly a Christian Forum [I assume Baptists are Christians] yet this Forum abounds with lies and half truths posted about Bush by the "Bush Haters".

This thread's title is silly. The President knows as does EVERYONE else that is even partially informed, that Rove committed no crime, did not act in a morally reprehensible way, and is not guilty of any wrong doing in this matter. He, GWB, is not concerned at all with the media's disingenuous machinations in this. You leftists on here should pick a better fight, cause that dog won't bite.
    Utter sillyness.

Also I am not sure everyone on the BB is a Christian (just like everyone in Church is not). Is it a requirement here?

Feeding trolls is not advised, but sometimes I just can’t help myself. [IMG] [IMG]
