Have you ever told a white lie? You are going to love this -- especially all the ladies who bake for church events.

Alice was to bake a cake for the church ladies' group bake sale, but she forgot to do it until the last minute. She baked an angel food cake and when she took it from the oven, the center had dropped flat. She said, "Oh dear, there's no time to bake another cake."

So, she looked around the house for something to build up the center of the cake. Alice found it in the bathroom ... a roll of toilet paper. She plunked it in and covered it with icing. The finished product looked beautiful, so she rushed it to the church.

Before she left the house, Alice had given her daughter some money and specific instructions to be at the bake sale the minute it opened, and to buy that cake and bring it home.

When the daughter arrived at the sale, the attractive cake had already been sold. Alice was beside herself. The next day, Alice was invited to a friend's home where two tables of bridge were to be played that afternoon.

After the game, a fancy lunch was served, and to top it off, the cake in question was presented for dessert.

Alice saw the cake, she started to get out of her chair to rush into the kitchen to tell her hostess all about it, but before she could get to her feet, one of the other ladies said, "What a beautiful cake!"

Alice sat back in her chair when she heard the hostess (who was a prominent church member) say, "Thank you, I baked it myself."

Oh no!!!! That's too funny. Where did you hear this story?
I have told some little white lies but I wouldn't ever claim someone else's cooking as my own.

Boy did that woman get what she deserved!

Luke 12:3 Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

I offered to bring my famous potato salad to the cook out for Mother's Day at our new church. How hard is it to make?

I get a 5# container of Reser's Regular Potato Salad and 5# of Reser's Mustard Potato Salad, mix them together, put them in a large bowl and garnish with red pepper rings and paprika.

People ALWAYS rave over it and ask for the recipe. I tell them "it's a family secret".

    Reser family, that is . . .

LOL Don't ya know.... I cook everything home made. Either it was made in someones home when I went to warm it up at my home...or when I take it out of the pakage, add the ingrediants, and cook it in my kitchen... at my home it then becomes "home made". [IMG]

Just like Dr. Bob's potato salad.... not only is it a family secret, its "home made" too. [IMG] He took it home and made it up. :D

Do you suppose that is the reason why MIL didn't give me her potato salad recipe when I asked for it?

I have been told anyone can make potato salad. But my "made from scratch potato salad" is awful. Dr. Bob's "family secret recipe" belongs to my family also. [IMG]

And it is the best potato salad I have ever eaten. [IMG]

I also use "Bush family secret recipe" for baked beans. ;)

I make very good potato salad, but it takes so long, that lately I have been making macaroni salad instead.

I usually make my own baked beans, but I did try Bush's and I like it so am keeping a few cans on hand for emergencies...

Once in awhile, if I am in a hurry, I will buy potato salad from the deli, but I add some things to it.

And I do NOT tell people I made it! [IMG]

Wow, thanks for the recipe, Dr. Bob!

I like my potato salad mixed with a vinegar dressing, but hardly ever get to make it that way because most people don't like it.

My wife and I both make great potato salad, and I make far better baked beans than Bush's!

Now, as far as people telling white lies, my ex-sister in law would go out and buy a pecan pie from BiLo and claim it was her own...home made from scratch....er...that was until my Mom caught her at BiLo...Mom was buying (er...making) one of her famous Pumpkin pies! ;)
