...would you take the shot [presuming you had a weapon beside your bed, or in your home] to protect your family, your property, your belongings, and most importantly, your life which equates to the continued ability to provide for and nurture your loved ones in the future???

I have no problem letting anyone know that I keep a Smith-Wesson 38 cal loaded on the night stand for such an occasion. I would not hesitate.

No doubt about it. I'd do/give everything needed to protect my family.

If someone is breaking into an occupied home with a weapon, you can have reasonable confidence that your family are the targets of the intruder. Thieves don't break into houses they know are occupied.

You can expect to have family members raped, kidnapped, or murdered if you do not take decisive action to end the encounter quickly.

While I have no eagerness to be in that position or gloat in taking the other person's life, even though justifiable, I would certainly do it without hesitation.

Not me. COM (Center Of Mass). Alot easier to hit than trying to hit a melon that's moving. Plus, learn how to point shoot and you won't need front and rear sights. Grandfather was retired LEO and that's all he taught us growing up, point shoot for real life, sights for target practice at distances. I can put 15rds (which is what my S&W 40 holds) in a paper plate at 30' without sights.

Having family that was and still currently LEO/Military and friends that are currently LEO both county and state, I know what this world has to offer and would not think twice to pull the trigger in order to protect my family and myself. I am the sheepdog that is in charge of protecting my sheep from the wolves of the world. I have my CCW and exercise my 2nd amendment rights whenever I can. As one of my favorite sayings go, "I would rather be judge by 12 than carried by 6". Or "I carry a gun because a police officer is to heavy" or "When seconds count, police will be there in minutes".

Just some more food for thought.

If they can get past Bud (my german shepherd) you bet I'd shoot....I keep a 9mm in my nightstand for just that time. I am 85% accurate in the bullseye at 50 feet so enter my home at your own risk.

I want to second the recommendation to learn to point shoot.

In a life or death encounter, you are going to have a massive adrenaline hit and will have to rely on muscle memory and your training. If you only know how to shoot accurately looking down your sights, you are likely to be ineffective. If you've trained your body to point your pistol accurately without sights, you are much more likely to be effective - without injuring innocent bystanders.

If I had to, it would instantly be the worse moment of my life, but of course I'd pull the trigger.. I have lots of guns, but the 9MM and the 12gauge pump are by my bed. If I hear them coming down the hall, I'll chamber a shell in the shotgun.. Hopefully that should send them running.

Yes, but I hope I would not enjoy it, as most of the gun owners I know seeningly would.

IF they also had a weapon, would shot first, call cops later...

What about IF they broke in, NO weapon on them though?

Shoot first and let the coroner clean up the mess.

So IF I saw someone about ready to rape a child, I should tell him to stop, and if he refuses that...

    Quote the Bible to him?

So how much love is going to be shown to those who go into hell?

How about showing your family love and stopping the person who is about to kill them all?
