    When is a man drunk?

The winebibbers and teetotalers in the "wine" thread all agree that intoxication is a sin. The statutes say you're jeopardizing the lives of others when you drive with a BAC of .08%, even though at the party you don't feel or look impaired.

So, if at the party, you don't feel or look impaired with a BAC of .08%, are you still guilty of the sin of drunkenness?

Or did you only become guilty when you got behind the wheel?

    What do you think?

at .08 you are guilty of driving under the influence according to government standards...not God's. We are to obey our government, though, so driving would be a sin. I don't agree .08 is intoxication. It varies depending on sex, size, build, etc. For a look at what drunkeness is or intoxication, look at how Noah and Lot acted. It's a loos of control of the body.

Actually, one is legally guilty of a DUI with any amount of alcohol in the body. .08 is a separate count regarding vehicle code, and the penalty is not much greater than if you sipped some cough syrup.
Before the .08%, it was higher at .10%.

Most people are not drunk at .08%

So you have to be passed out to be considered drunk?

    That might be one symptom.

I believe you must be stumbling or have some difficulty walking, then you are drunk. Otherwise, you are buzzed.

So one has to be passed out AND sexually molested by their offspring? I mean, we're looking at Noah and Lot, right?

I gave you one example...not every example throughout history, but I'm sure you already knew that. Intoxication is a loss of control of physical and mental capacities. Make of that what you wish.

Why...because Aaron cannot discern what drunkeness is?

    What if you get talkative?
What if you're starting to get irritable?

    Are you drunk?

No because said Noah was molested by Lot, I never knew this.

The alcohol made him molest his father (if that is true) right? So....see what happens when people drink too much?

Noah was never molested by Lot. You are confusing what I stated. I gave Noah and Lot as two examples in the Bible of drunkeness.

C'mon, you expect to be taken seriously when you point to men who were passed out to answer a question that wasn't dealing in extremes at all?

You're saying that intoxication is impairment. How much impairment? When you can't drive? When you can't walk? When you're buzzed?

Do you have that much difficulty reading? Did I not say drunkeness is a loss of control of physical and mental capacities? Passing out can be one such example...but not the only one.

I probably have very limited experience regarding drinking. Never liked it, and don't like the feeling of being out of it.
If you ask me about Pot, then I could tell you a little.

But I'll take a stab at it. Becoming talkative probably doesn't make you drunk, neither does getting irritated. But if you become dizzy, you are probably drunk or on your way.
