Here is a riddle for prophecy scholars to ponder. Let's say there is this man who lives in a distant place and he is also the leader of his country. His government was created by the world for the sole purpose of giving his people a homeland. In the course of his reign another party comes to power. Both have aspirations of a homeland. The latter party, being elected by their people legitimately, not only wants a homeland but all of the land in question. During the reign of this opposing regime the world has said we will no longer deal with this new party. It just so happens that this government was almost totally supported by the outside world. Furthermore, most of the money supplied this government came from nations that were culturally different. Now the world having dealt with the original government decides it can no longer support the present one and cuts off all funding. What is the world to do? It cannot support a government that wants independence for itself and wants to take away the independence of its neighbor. Also, it doesn't want to fund security forces that would be used to further this goal. Nevertheless, many of this government's employees provided health care and necessary humanitarian services to its people. So the world says we will fund this people as long the funding goes through one man. We will set up a temporary mechanism and allow this funding to get to these essential humanitarian needs. This money will allow these organizations to continue functioning and prevent total collapse of the government. More than that, it will provide needed funds to the employees who haven't been paid in months. Who Am I?

Remember the mark of the beast can be three things: his mark, his number or his Name.

Well - certainly a total bogus spin off of Rev 13:17 that is "one fact" we can verify.

How many "different stories" can be "spun" in that same way from Rev 13 IF we simply start "making stuff up"??

Hint: That is NOT how to interpret Bible prophecy!

    In Christ,

    Bob

    Rev 13;17

I think the OP didn't start from the biblical approach or such questions.
It talks about the Beast which has the power to prohibit or to allow the people to buy and sell. The whole economic rights depend on this Beast. The True believers may have much difficulty if they refuse what this Beast instruct. If they refuse the Idol worship forced by the Beast as Rev 13:15, they will be killed ( Rev 13:15, 13:14). The Beast force them carry the marks on the hand or on the forehead ( 16).

Now the question is how we can interpret the marks, the number 666, the beast, and who would be the Beast, etc.

As for the number 666, some say that it is the computerized ID which may be sealed on the hands or on forehead, but others say that 666 means the official title of Pope as its Latin numbers are 666. We can think about this.

    The Bible givesa a clue

The Bible gives a clue, you have the mark of the beast verses the mark of God:

    Deuteronomy 6

1: Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2: That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3: Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
4: Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6: And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8: And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9: And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

    Revelation 14:
6: And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7: Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
8: And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
9: And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10: The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
12: Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

I believe that Holding on the Holy Spirit is Keeping the Commandments.

Yes, there cannot be Apostasy or Anti-Christ among the believers who try to keep the commandments literally.
