That is a measure of background checks, correct?
Montana, and many other states, allows for private sales.

How many are unregistered? Who knows.
How many are bought/sold, or gifted, or traded between private folks?

Florida does allow private party sales and has no private party sales. However, the background checks are, as far as I can tell, the best proxy we have for the number of guns.

I'm sorry I don't know what you're saying about Florida.

    It should read:

Florida does allow private party sales and has no registration.

    Prayerfully, not too much longer.

I disagree. We're already wealthier than 99% of the rest of the world if we make 33K a year. we just want our stuff. And I don't begrudge anyone for wanting things. But why don't we care so much about people's lives?

Ain't nobody taken up arms and started a civil war over abortion or all the other senseless murders and folks stepping into an eternal hell everyday.

So what is it about the government taking money and other non-eternal stuff that has us ready to take up arms and fight to the bloody death?

Because God says that if I don't work, I don't eat.

    Thank you for the clarification.

All mine have been acquired legally. Only two have been purchased in a store where paperwork was necessary. One of those two was registered as my carry weapon when I worked security.

That would be enough to send the gestapo knocking.

If you think the growing dissatisfaction with the government is solely about money, then you're not paying attention. It's about the Constitution, and the rights guaranteed us by that document in this country.

The Patriot Act under Bush was a start; as of today (January 6, 2013), there are new laws and executive orders authorizing warrantless surveillance of U.S. citizens. There's a growing movement right now to dis-arm citizens. And just today, a democrat re-introduced legislation to abolish term limits for the president.

So you do worry about earthly things. Okay.

I would actually just let things fall where they fall except I have now come to start seeing how these non-eternal issues have eternal consequences. They have an impact on how the Gospel can be spread. What we are seeing now is early in the process that has been seen in Nazi Germany and other nations around the world.

I think my next area of research will be into the role of pastors in leading up to, and through, the American Revolution.

Agreed. Besides, too many have their hands out for the freebies others are paying for.

Yes I believe the growing dissatisfaction with the government is primarily money. Either keeping it or having the ability to protect it or the stuff it buys.

And are we really to believe that it took the Patriot Act and an executive order to authorize warrantless surveillance? Somebody needs to tell the CIA and FBI.

So Christians are gonna take up arms because the government is trying to take away their guns?

Nope. God says if I don't work, I don't eat. But He also says that He will take care of me. I trust Him so I don't worry.

    Quite cynical, aren't you?

Hey, Poncho; we got one for ya.

Now where did I say that? You just did what you're always accusing others of: attributing something that I never said, when in fact, I said exactly what I meant just a few sentences prior.

The subject here is civil disobedience. Consider the examples of Daniel; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; the Hebrew midwives; the harlot spoken of in Hebrews 11; and the apostles in Acts 4-5. Were these all in disobedience to God?

The misuse and misapplication of this verse is almost universal. Usually by liberals to excuse government theft of personal wealth to give to someone they want to own.

Jesus was saying nothing belonged to Caesar, so that's what we should give him.

Find another verse to support your theories. That one just doesn't cut it.

There was nothing cynical about my statement. Sorry you thought so.

You're really stretching to make a point. Christians are citizens and you said there is a growing movement to disarm citizens. So I ASKED a question that I wanted an answer to. I did not say that you said anything.

So are you now hearing from God and He is saying start civil disoebedience over whatever it is yall are talking about that seems to go back to money at its core?

And the misuse and misapplication by those who want to justify all sorts of behavior because of money and stuff seems to be equally universal.

    It's STUFF.

??? That's about the most errant explanation of Scripture I've ever heard. Jesus said what He said, and what He said doesn't agree with what you said.

It cuts it just fine. What doesn't cut it is that attempt at a weak explanation of Scripture that's so far off, it barely warrants saying anything. The words on the pages of Scripture clearly disagree with your silly interpretation that you had to come up with to try to make some inane point.

That's because the truth and the facts don't interest you.

In the context of the times, the pharisees understood Jesus perfectly. You never will. Doesn't fit your agenda.

If truth and facts interested you, your "interpretation" wouldn't be in conflict with what the words on the page say for that Scripture.

Right, cause we all know that you time traveled and interviewed the Pharisees and got a quote from them as to what they thought Jesus meant.

You're just warping Scripture again to try and make a point. And THAT is evident.

Dont be surprised. Personally I have a small number of guns, registered and unregistered compared to most in my community, and by a long shot in the surrounding more rural counties. One hundred arms per household, and heavy duty ones, is not unusual. Many, many homes have multiple gun vaults. My attitude towards arms is that for me, I want enough to protect my family. I do not care or desire to put the money up to buy an arsenal. However, if one wants to do that, more power to them. I think a 38 is sufficient to stop an intruder.

The price of posters telling you exactly what you are would be banishment. This is not allowed, but some comments not directed at any one person are in order.

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with a point of view, whether it be spiritual doctrine or government, if the person know what he is talking about. The second point is that for someone to engage in an exchange of ideas, they have to be interested in learning, listening, and adjusting if necessary. This exchange breaks down when one of the parties sole purpose is to demean, irritate, and solicit a rise out of the other party. So when all this is combined, someone who has no idea what they are talking about mixed with a cheap thrill of being a troll, tempers flare.

This latest round is after a five month period of time where posters of solid Christian character were told they are either a tool of Satan or headed for the Lake of Fire, both directly and implied for supporting Romney. After the election their was a lull.

When something passes like an election, a troll must think up a new game. When an individual that obviously does not understand Scripture, never served this nation one day, probably has never had a job or any responsibility tells Christians that have risked their lives in battle they do not understand this in Scripture or that in government, it is enough to make one physically sick. All one can conclude is that an individual like this is totally devoid of character, understanding, morality, or dignity at any level.

It's called "study". No time travel needed.

And it's not me that used scripture to advance his agenda. It is you.
