A Wasted Vote

Yes, because that is only one of 50. The big picture has to be looked at. Will the lack of electoral votes given to Baldwin benefit McCain or Obama?

 

But this is putting faith in man and not God. This is not being confident in the power of God.
Do you believe God is all powerful? Then vote for the candidate who best reflects Christian values. A vote for the lesser of two evils is showing a lack of confidence in God.

 

I don't understand how voting for a candidate such as Barr or Baldwin or McKinney or Nader in a state such as, say, Oklahoma, that is a cinch for McCain or in a state such as, say, New York, that is a cinch for Obama affects who wins the Electoral College vote.

We don't really have a national election for president, we have 50 separate state elections for president, plus the District of Columbia.

 

That's a Red Herring. God is all powerful...I'll vote for Jesus Christ to be POTUS. Will He be come November?

God is omnipotent, for sure, but he has also given us brains and logic to use. Fact is, Baldwin has no chance to be POTUS as McCain or Obama will be the next president. I have all the confidence in God, that regardless of who is in office, His will is done.

There's not a dime's worth of difference between the two. Besides, didn't McCain himself tell you not to fear an Obama presidency ?

No, I am saying in a state such as Oklahoma that is a cinch that its electoral votes will go to McCain that voting for someone other than McCain or Obama doesn't affect the outcome of the presidential election as to which of the major party candidates wins at least 270 Electoral College votes.

 

Um, if you would actually READ I didn't tell you how to vote as a Christian or an American. I actually SAID that as Christians and Americans, the big picture is what should be focused on. Debate what I say, not what you want me to say. Baldwin is NOT part of the big picture, no matter how much you and the others who vote for him want to believe he is.

 

In other words, all our votes are wasted, because it really comes down to the Electoral College....

 

Far from being a wasted vote a third party vote could be the most powerful voice that Christians could have.

If we could stop blindly supporting the GOP no matter who they run, it may wake them up and force them to make some changes.

Perhaps the wasted vote is the one that blindly and blithely goes to the GOP.

 

Baldwin will not win not because he has no chance but because we have not given him a chance. It will be either Obama or McCain but God will still reign but we will have to face hardships because we did not vote for the best qualified candidate. We will get a president that will not benifet anybody but themselve all because Christians will waste their vote by voting for the lesser of two evils. God did indeed give us brains but we have to look at the big picture instead of having to settle for comprimise.

 

Roger, after the electoral slaughter that the GOP will suffer in the House and Senate races, and likely the presidential race, on November 4 there will be lots of blame placing and soul searching among Republicans for the next 2-4 years. All of this anger and rage directed toward Senator Obama that is being seen at GOP rallies will be turned inward after the election. It will not be a pretty sight.

 

It's not so much "blindly supporting the GOP" as it is doing everything possible to ensure a morally bankrupt Obama does not get in. IMO, that is the more powerful between voting third party or not. I'm not voting in this election to feel good about myself, I'm voting based on what's best for our unborn, and our country.

 

It's unreal that it is called a "wasted vote" for voting the lesser of two evils...but a vote for someone with no chance of winning is not a "wasted vote". The logic is baffling...

You are right, America has not given him a chance to win because we are a two party country currently. Given that, a third party has no chance currently.

 

So the GOP can throw whoever they want as us and as long as the Democrat is even marginally worse we are compelled to vote for the GOP.

Its time for a shake-up. Don't waste you vote voting GOP. Let them know that we are no longer to be triffled with!!

I think in this discussion we have to bear in mind that folks like webdog are voting in competitive states, such as Ohio, where his vote actually can make a difference, compared to states such as Arkansas and Alabama that are a cinch for John McCain.

Because the Israelites were afraid of giants they were denied entering the promised land for forty years. Have Christians become afraid of giants? We are being tested but we will never get out of this rut unless we vote according to God's principals.

 

And we will be as long as we have the Electoral College. And I don't see the Electoral College going away as there are enough of the smaller states who will not vote to amend the U.S. constitution because they have a larger say in the Electoral College than their population would have in a presidential election decided based on the national popular vote.
