They certainly don’t mind taking the name of Jesus in vain…. You can’t watch a Movie, or most of television, without hearing the Lord’s name in vain…. Woe, unto all those that call good evil, and evil good…..

Hi , I have been silent and only read others opinion on these topics but I am very upset over this one. I am so sick of people being offended by anything that is good, decent, moral or anything that uplifts my Lord. Not that this show does, but to think that the mear mention of Jesus'name upsets people is appalling.
I am afraid we as christians only have ourselves to blame. We are getting so wishy washy we won't make a stand on anything anymore.
I am going to come down off my soap box now. I only meant to say that I as a christian am offended by the sick perverted things that are allowed on tv now. - My first post ,please forgive if I offended anyone. Mary Kay

This sounds to me that this is an ingenious ploy to get your networked talked about. In the TV business name recognition is everything.

Bad press, Good press, all the same people are talking about your network= more eyeballs on the screen. ;)

ABC's guidelines forbid the use of the name "Jesus" as an expletive, and in the opinion of at least one censor, saying "Thank you Jesus" under those circumstances was just that.

Jerry Falwell is his usual typical outraged self, of course. Too bad we can't bleep him.

As far as I know, Joy Behar is Jewish. Why is she thanking Jesus if she doesn't believe he is the Messiah?

Perhaps this was the reason for the deletion - that it would be seen as derogatory coming from a Jewish person.

I did not hear the comment or anything about it (no cable tv), so I am just making a guess.

No wonder I'm still here!

    Joshua

P.S. I had to unlearn the habit of writing "Xn" that I picked up in seminary. It's really handy when you're hurridly taking notes, but can really annoy people who aren't familiar with Greek.

X I have been told is a Greek symbol that Stands for Christ. Maybe some of the heavy scholars (I'm talking gray matter, not the spare tire:D) could help out. I don't believe that the word X-mas began as a removal of Christ, although many use it for that purpose.

Anyway, How many times have you seen interviews with atheletes who praise God for their success get cut short, so no one gets offended that someone would proclaim their faith openly.

I do believe the constitution gives everyone that right? Or could my interpretation be subject to some pre-concieved Ideals that I have.

Even so, ABC, as a private company, does have the right to censor any subject matter they feel is innapropriate. But I don't ever want to hear them say a word if someone chooses to censor what they want to put on the air. The Networks have screamed first amendment rights for years, until someone wants to say something they don't agree with.

Yes, Christ spelled in Greek starts with the letter chi (which looks like an X). Essentially, it's his initial.

Abbreviations like "Xmas" and "Xtian" have been in use for centuries. Those who say they are intended to "take Christ out of Christmas" and such are simply unaware of the facts.
