? About a DLL error

    When my comp starts up the first page has this error box, "A required DLL file Vistacontrols.DLL was not found". I can access my internet thru email. Is this a kiss of death or easily fixed?

    Nope, not a kiss of death [​IMG] . When your computer starts, it automatically loads some programs. Apparently one program is set to load on your computer when it starts up, so it tries to find that DLL file "vistacontrols.dll". For some reason it can't find it, so it displays that error.

    There are a few fixes:

    You can try to reinstall the software that uses that DLL. I did a quick Google search and found that Kodak EasyShare uses this DLL- so that might be the program that is messed up.

    Or you can disable this program from trying to start up when Windows starts by clicking Start > Run > type "msconfig" (no quotes), press enter. Select "Selective Startup" and then click on the Startup tab. Uncheck that Kodak program on there. Click OK. If that worked, once you restart your computer, it will not give you the error.

    So I would first try reinstalling the program. If that doesn't work, remove it from the startup list.
