In one topic on which I was posting, someone asked about one of the acronyms being used. I did not know much about these until I began posting on discussion boards and maybe many others are also unfamiliar with this "language". I have found a site that explains various Emoticons and Acronyms. BTW, I hope this will be helpful to some of you. :)

    Warm Christian greetings!

Thank you for your message Clint. I gather from the "dictionary" that LOL can mean "Laughing out loud" or "Lots of Luck"-
I thought Christians believed in providence rather than luck! TIC

    Kind regards

    RJH

PS I notice you are in Virginia; do you know a Southern Baptist pastor named Geoff Hammond who is based in Norfolk? His sister and her family go to our church. [IMG]

I thought foreign language was forbidden on this board. The above looks Greek to me, or is it more politically correct if we say "speaking in tongues?" If that is the case, then we need an interpreter! ;)

Thanks, Chick, for this list. BTW, does anyone know if "QED" stands for something? OOTAOTB (One of the atheists on this board) put "QED" at the end of one of his posts, but I don't know if it is an internet acronym or if perhaps it may be his initials.

Ahem! May I point out that the most important one is missing?
    CSL!
It means coke/coffee spewing laugh. Yeah, so it was made up by a friend in a chatroom, but if we all start using it it'll be on the real list soon enough! :D

I looked in up the dictionary and actually its used in mathematics for proof. What I think the person is saying is show me proof. Isn't that what all atheist are saying I'll believe in God if you show me proof!... Hope this helps... Quod Erat Demonstrandum [Latin: that which was to be shown/proved]... Brother Glen [IMG]

QED stands for quod erat demonstrandum, which means "which was to be demonstrated" in Latin.

Quite a novel approach, Bro. Glen - looking it up in the dictionary. :D Guess I got so wrapped up in internet acronyms that I forgot the abundance of "old" knowledge still out there.
