Adventists and Catholics: extra-biblical inspiration and infallibility

    These two sects believe outside the 24 inspired and infallible prophets in the 66 books of the bible, some mortals exhibit the same traits.

    For SDAs, it is just one woman, their godess, Ellen White while for Catholics,it is the popes.

    A catholic will swear that they believe in scriptures not men but their beliefs are carefully filtered through Rome. The can't afford to differ with Papal Rome. An SDA on the other hand may spew tons of verses, but they dread opposing Ellen White. That is regarded as a damnable heresy.


    SDAs are just a different shade of Catholicism. Little wonder then that like David's indignation in 2Samuel 12, they are really angry at themselves!

    Try something that is valid according to the actual Bible - instead of constantly "making stuff up". Christianity maybe.

    We believe the Bible and the Bible teaching on NOT rejecting the prophets that God sends EVEN if those prophets are as Nathan and Elijah that author not ONE book of scripture.

    vooks then looks for some "emotionalism" to address it with - "as if" that sort of low-road response to the Bible is "most compelling" on Baptist Board. As my signature line points out - that may be true for some - but many actually "read" the Bible.

    All those prophets who never authored the scriptures are found in the scriptures not outside. What's the point of a canon if God equally reveals and inspires men throughout just as before?

    To equate anything outside scriptures to the prophets and apostles is the same error Catholicism have engaged in. And not just Catholics but Jehovah's Witnesses. They all look outside scriptures for God's voice and they readily find one somewhere. Mormons have Joseph Smith, Catholics have Papacy, Adventists have Ellen White for authority on doctrine, and Jehovah's Witnesses have Watchtower Society.

    This is why a Catholic has unshakeable confidence in Assumption of Mary, an Adventist in sin-transfer to the sanctuary not to mention vegetarianism,a Jehovah Witness and their mutating love-hate relationship with blood transfusion

    Anyway, it's a free world BobRyan, some Hindus drink cow piss:laugh:

    Today being Saturday,Adventist's will troop to church, Pope White the infallible interpreter of OT and NT will be read. Scriptures will also be casually read just to see if they conform to Pope

    As I said repeatedly --- "Give me the Bible AND the words IN the Bible" -- vooks is fishing for "emotionalism sans all Bible truth" and trying to find like-minded posters.

    How "instructive".

    Vook's attack on the Bible doctrine of 1Cor 12 and 14 - and on 1Thess 5 regarding God's gift of prophecy -- is noted.

    Just interesting at this point to see who falls for it.
