Bomber rams car packed with explosives into two diplomatic vehicles entering Indian embassy in central Kabul

Afghanistan's interior ministry has accused a foreign intelligence agency of involvement in a suicide attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul today that killed 41 people.

A further 141 people were injured when the bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into two diplomatic vehicles entering the embassy in the centre of the Afghan capital, Reuters reported.

The car exploded near a row of metal turnstiles outside the embassy where dozens of Afghans line up each morning to apply for visas.

It was the deadliest attack in Kabul since the fall of the Taliban in 2001. The death toll was the highest for an attack in Afghanistan since a suicide bomber killed more than 100 people at a dog-fighting competition in Kandahar province in February.

"The interior ministry believes this attack was carried out in coordination and consultation with an active intelligence service in the region," the ministry said in a statement. Afghanistan has previously accused Pakistani agents of being behind a number of attacks on its soil.

Vital intelligence on the Taliban may rest with its prime sponsor – Pakistan’s ISI

Pakistan’s sinister Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) remains the key to providing accurate information to the US-led alliance in its war against Osama bin Laden and his Taliban hosts in Afghanistan. Known as Pakistan’s ‘secret army’ and ‘invisible government’, its shadowy past is linked to political assassinations and the smuggling of narcotics as well as nuclear and missile components.

The ISI also openly backs the Taliban and fuels the 12-year-old insurgency in northern India’s disputed Kashmir province by ‘sponsoring’ Muslim militant groups and ministering its policy of ‘death by a thousand cuts’ that so effectively drove the Soviets out of Afghanistan and led to their political demise.

    <snip>

Founded soon after independence in 1948 to collect intelligence in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir and in East Pakistan (later Bangladesh), the ISI was modelled on Savak, the Iranian security agency, and like Savak was trained by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the SDECE, France’s external intelligence service. The 1979 Soviet occupation of Afghanistan led the CIA, smarting from its retreat from Vietnam, into enhancing the ISI's covert action capabilities by running mujahideen resistance groups against the Soviets in Afghanistan.

US-led forces have played a part in a Taliban attack on an Afghanistan prison that set hundreds of militants free, some reports speculate.

Experts in regional affairs believe that Taliban militants attacked the Kandahar prison with the green light from US forces.

They say it is questionable - how could the militants dare attack the prison with US-led troops stationed just northeast of the jail?

The sources also noted that although clashes between Afghan security forces and the militants lasted for several hours, US-led troops did not intervene.

Ordinary people share the idea, asking how is it possible that hundreds of militants could attack a government prison, detonating more than 800 kilograms of explosives and foreign forces show no reaction.

They say the blasts were deafening and awakened everyone in the region. No one can claim not being aware of the attack.

The Taliban was a construct of the CIA and was armed by the CIA….Rohrabacher

Committee on Foreign Affairs discussion recently. Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher named the Clinton administration, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia for creating the Taliban. “Let me repeat that: The Clinton administration, along with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, created the Taliban,” Rohrabacher

If this seems strange to you then look closely at the picture and you will see Congressman Rohrabacher on the right dressed in Taliban garb. Mr. Karzai’s elder brother was a Taliban and both used to live in Quetta Pakistan. Part of his family still lives there. Mr. Hamid himself is a self-professed Taliban who was proposed as the UN Ambassador of the Taliban government. During his days as a Conoco representative Mr. Karzai reportedly received lots of money from Enron and Conoco to get the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan pipeline off the ground.

We're going to win the "war on terror" by backing the terrorists who sponsor terrorism? Now there's a sane foreign policy if ever there was one.

Moving on to other news with similar credibility, today Paul Bunyan had to be taken to the hospital after his ox Blue gorged him for reasons unknown. Paul is currently in ICU but is expected to recover fully.
