Al Qaeda’s best friend

    The New York Times has an extraordinary Op-Ed this morning by Ibrahim Mothana, a 23-year-old democracy activist and Al Qaeda opponent in Yemen.

    The headline is “How Drones Help Al Qaeda,” and it explains in compelling detail how the principal U.S. tactic ostensibly devoted to fighting Al Qaeda in his country — repeated drone attacks — is having exactly the opposite effect. Even though I’m going to excerpt some of it to discuss it, I really urge everyone to read all of it. He begins this way:

    It doesn't surprise me that a far left rag like Salon would write something like this. Let's all hurry and run right out and make decisions based on Salon.:rolleyes:

    Let's put all the phoney leftie vs rightie stuff aside for a minute. Do you actually believe that killing women and children with drones in countries we aren't at war with is a good policy? Do you believe it keeps us or our allies like Israel safer?
