John, if you are ever talking with uncle, you might ask him if he remembers the 2nd Battalion, PPCLI airborne regiment. We received a presidential citation, the highest award a president can give a foreign army. In 1951, the 101st US Airborne were dropped in the middle of Chinese troops on 3 sides and your amry was buried in rice paddies and being shot at. We went to their aid. We were dropped on the open side and wen in to rescue them by taking out the enemy. At lostof us made friends for life. Just say to him "Airborne" rather sharply. That was our form of greeting back then...We only say it to-day at funerals though.

Cheers, and bless for the memories,

    B179755 Jim....Capt. Ret'd

Serial number, name and rank..Never forget those.

I probably won't see Uncle Bill until furlough, several years away. But I'll have to ask him about that. I don't remember hearing he was Airborne, though.

Were you a chaplain at that time? 1951--I was just being born in December. :)

You know, Jim, judging from this, your talk about MLK, etc., you've had a very interesting life. And you write well on the BB. Have you thought of writing a memoir? Or already written one?

Jim1999, I'm sorry about my disrespect toward you in the past. I would love to hear more about your experiences. Of course, I can't accept your socialism, but you've earned my respect as a freedom-loving American.

    My hat's off to you.

P.S. It might interest you to know that my immediate supervisor is a Scot. He always ends his directives to me with "Cheers."

You're not answering my question. You are the one to bring up a just war so you should explain it, not ask me questions. I asked you how a just war is determined and who should determine it, since that seems to be your standard.

I wonder why JustChristian, Jim1999, MagneticPoles; et. al. have not responded to this but have sought to derail this thread? Conscience got the best of ya, huh?[IMG]

I provided an on topic description of my 93 year old mother and 95 year old aunt who both have Alzheimer's and are in the same room in a nursing home. You guys yell at me for being off topic and now you're yelling at me for posting on topic. Get it straight. The topic is Alzheimer's not abortion.

But as to your off topic question, no I don't have any pangs of conscience for voting for the best candidate and the one who will end this terrible mistake in Iraq. The Republicans have fooled you in 5 elections into thinking they were going to stop legal abortion in the US and have done very little to accomplish that goal. Why can't you admit after 20 years of Republican administrations that they are NEVER going to do anything about it because if the resolve the issue that takes away the major reason evangelical Christians vote for them. Admit it. You've been played for a fool.

What was the real impact in terms of reducing the number of abortions. Isn't that what counts rather than more rhetoric?

Rationalize it away all you want. That article speaks of action not idle rhetoric.

BTW, your user name? Is it a claim of justification or that you are Christian only? I know that you used to be BaptistBeliever but it seems that you are throwing off any Baptist affiliation and taking a just Christian association.

If you are taking a position of justification, how do you justify your position of supporting those that have the power to actually increase the slaughter of the unborn?

I'm not rationalizing anything. I simply am saying that his impact on the number of unborn babies murdered was small. The major thing he did, which is commendable, was to pass the bill outlawing partial birth abortion. These are indeed horrendous but they represent only about 0.02% of all abortions. That's why I said that the impact was small.

I changed my user name at the request of another member whose handle was Baptist Believer. We were always getting mixed up so I did it as a courtesy to him. What is your user name a statement of? I notice it doesn't seem to have anything to do with being a Christian. Is that a coincidence or what?

What are you asking? Sense my user ID has no Christian significance I am not a Christian in your judgment? Be very careful JC your dark side is coming to the surface. BB rules are very specific about those kind of judgments.

What a hypocrite! I believe you're the person that said this to me.

Why not try to just discuss the issues? Maybe that impossible for you.

Getting too hot in the kitchen, eh? I simply asked you how do you justify the support of those that seek to increase the slaughter. Now answer the question. It is you who derailed this thread and as a result it will likely be locked up.

Was this thread about alzheimers or dementia?

    Cheers,

Does it matter? What say you Jim? Does the soul leave when brain function ceases in an Alzheimer's patient? If not then how do you justify saying that there is no soul in the human fetus?

Wrong thread, but no, I don't think an alzheimers patient losing anything, but their faculties to reason.

The other is a question of when a fetus becomes a person from a medical point of view.

My original statement stands: Abortion if necessary, but not necessarily abortion.

    Cheers,

    Jim

There is no medical point of view Jim other than at conception Jim. IF you were aborted 3 weeks after your mother conceived, you would not be here to have this debate today.
