I'm debating an alleged former SBC pastor on the Cleveland Browns board who is now an atheist / agnostic (he doesn't seem to know which one). He claims his seminary training is the school in the OP. While he does seem to know his Bible, I'm doubting his training. I cannot find anything pertaining to this school, and wondered if someone has heard of them, either years past or present.

Capella was something similar to that before they became accredited and changed their name.

It's in the thread title. American Graduate School. That's what made me connect it with what Capella used to be called - that was the same response my husband had when I mentioned it to him all those years ago . . .

==I'm a bit confused by this for several reasons.

First, there is no such thing as a seminary known as "American Graduate School". Second, I am not aware whether or not Capella (see Bitsy's reply) does or has offered a seminary program. Third, there is an American Graduate School. However it is not a seminary (link). Fourth, there use to be school called "American Bible College & Seminary". Maybe that is the school he is thinking of? If so, it lost its accreditation (TRACS) and soon closed.

Having said all of that, however, I would be suspect of your friend's claims. He could be inventing claims to make himself sound like an authority. After all if he really believes there is no God, what will stop him from lying to you about his educational background?

It was apparently an error on my part. He actually graduated from MBTS. I don't know why he stated AGS in one of his posts, though.

==I agree 100%. I'll give Webdog's friend the benefit of the doubt and say that just maybe we don't have all the information. Still I can't understand how one confuses MBTS and AGS.

Has this gentleman stated how he lost his faith?
I would recommend reading Evidence that Demmands a Verdict by Josh McDowell
I don't have enough faith to be an Atheist by Giesler & Turek
The Evolution Handbook by Vance Ferrell

These three books should be in everybody's library.:godisgood:

My first thought was also ABCS (later known as ACCS) in Oklahoma. MBTS has never gone by any other name.
