American Opportunity Tax Credit

This is news to me, and maybe for you. I did not know this existed, nor was I aware of the lifetime learning credit. The income guidelines are higher, it seems, for the American Opportunity one, so if you can't get one, you may be able to get the other.
I also was not aware that we can claim kids as dependants even if they live on campus. Now that I know, a few of us in the household can amend taxes for the last few years, which will be helpful. College is expensive!
