After a long time I decided to visit this forum again. I followed the discussion of the bible codes.

It seems to me that some people are so afraid, that they rather jump to conclusions and start calling names, then trying to toroughly read and understand the posts.

As for me, I do not see any where a reason for you Gina to apologize, neither do I see a need for Sherrie to apologize.

    May God bless you.

(PS: Mari from holland send greetings)

What about me? I was attacked 7 times in the first 2 pages because someone couldn't be bothered to read a post before making a snap judgement.

Nobody seems to care about that. [IMG]

I know what you are saying Wisdom Seeker, because I know I asked for a moderator probably more than 6 times. To which none responded in any of the threads I went to.

I don't recall any name calling. I do recall biblical wisdom being tossed out the window. I recall being attacked becasue I supported the bible. I do recall a person believeing in witchcraft, and being supported by another poster, again tossing the bible out when God says He forbids witchcraft. There were several people who demonstrated that they do not seek wisdom form God and HIs word, but from witchcraft, then insisted everyone else does the samething. No, sorry serious, mature christians do not.
If these people are going to post on a christian board, they need to show christian beliefs, instead of beliefs God has condemned in His written word,as was shown in the bible codes thread. You either seek to be bibklical in your life, and what you beleive or you just claim the name christian.
And I also have contaced moderators about some of the behavior, like someone thinking I should not post on any topic they did. Being bashed everytime I posted anywhere they wanted to post. Behavior very unbecoming a christian. Told I was upset and angry because I was having computer trouble and couldn't see what I was typing on my screen. Not to mention I type with a lot of typos anyway. Never claimed to be a good typer, always warn that I am not. Since when does how well a person type have anything to do with attitudes, anger, or intelligence. Obviously a complaint by someone who knows no humility, no spiritual maturity.

Did anyone consider not acting like a two year old and solving your own problems and disagreements?
Moderators are there just to help out and provide general guidelines. Ideally the only people who would need to be corrected or edited would be trolls and the like. Is it really too much for adult Christians to learn to get along and if they can't just hush up and not bother with each other?

You brought up the subject. A few of us are tired of being accused and lied about all over the board.

    Tired of being accused?
I didn't take offense to it because I've learned to not expect a lot out of people.
But..perhaps you don't realize that you're guilty of accusing yourself.
That was a pretty strong statement you made about me, let alone a false one. (ones)
If you can dish it out be prepared to take what's dished out to you. I personally don't mind strong statements made to me, but am suprised when people do it and then act hurt or offended if someone responds in the same style.

Y'all come on down to the C/A forum :D

I would agree that it is unnecessary to be overly concerned when someone makes a strong statement or what we view as a personal attack upon ourselves. We simply do not know one another and there is no way by a few paragraph that we can truly know what the other person is always trying to say.

That being said I would add that I have never read the Bible Codes; a friend loaned me the left behind book 1, but I found it to be so dramatized I could not read it. My wife's aunt bought our oldest son the children's left behind book 1 and I was able to read it, but do not agree with the strong leaning toward guiding someone through such an overwhelming attempt at generating fear.

That being said, I do believe there is a CODE in the BIBLE, more in the OT than the NT; this CODE however, points everywhere to Christ and nowhere to anything but Christ.

Well, that is my two cents worth, if you guys really want some mud slinging come on down to the C/A; we hash it out and then we cry on each other's shoulders, but because we read the Bible and don't take the word of man as revealed truth, we cannot simply disregard something that even on the surface seems to be so unfounded, it is by never looking beneath the surface that we cannot see the things that are difficult.

Well, I'll shut up now. [IMG]

Gina as has been stated by mods before you can not bring quotes from another topic to this thread, it has to be said in this thread. Now either thats for everyone or it's not. Or maybe mods can do it but different rules for the rest of us.
And yes, those verses you quoted were taken out of context to support a non biblical view, especially since we do not have to guess at what God wants when it come that subject, becasue He has said plainy in His word. One for instance is that no where does the bible say the magi were TOLD to use astrology, they were pagans, using pagan astrology, no where does it say they were believers in the one true God, yet you seem to want to add to what scripture says. If you want to continue to discuss astrology then start a new thread.
If you haven't noticed, somepeople are running from thread to thread on the BB accusing others of everything immaginable.

Bro. Dallas, this particular disagreement stoped being so much about bible codes and went on to astrology, some people think it is from God and can be done in a christian way, even though the bible condemns it.

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

    Matthew 18:21
Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" 22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

    Katie: practicing astrology/witchcraft/paganiam/sataniam

I do not practice astrology, I do believe in the biblical merits of the biblically definition of what astrological signs mean. I have no reason to "practice" it, I am not a farmer, I already found Jesus, and so far it isn't the end of the world yet.
You also said I practiced witchcraft, pagainism, and satanism. Necromancer, unbeliever, and Satanist are not names?
I don't know about the quotes. I'll ask. I quoted a relevant thing you said. I'll be happy to take it to private messages if you'd like, so far I haven't because what you're saying is on a public board.
I would not call you the same if I didn't believe like you did, but if I did I'm pretty sure you're reaction would be quite volatile, as would many people's under the circumstances.
I'm simply asking you to consider either refraining from such attacks or at the least, not becoming upset when someone does the same to you.

I'm not trying to be mean to you. I'm not angry with you. In fact, I kinda like you, and I do admire strong conviction no matter what.

My main point in all this is an attempt to have grown-ups make at least a minimal effort to quit bickering. It's going on and on and on and it's quite tiresome, and it doesn't really matter who's right and who's wrong as far as reactions go, it never hurt anyone to apologize even when they're right for the sake of peace. I'm not saying apologizing for beliefs, I'm saying for the petty little arguments and names and bickering that do nothing for a Christ-like witness.

While they are names, I did not call you any of these. I do appreciate you saying I had.
The bible is perfectly clear on astrology, there are no biblical merits for astrology.
"Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it." - Isaiah 47:13-14.
And no, astrology is not used by farmers. Why do you think it is in the news paper, even city news papers, where there are no farms?

You don't have to beleive anything like i do, but when God plainly says no to astrology , then it's no.

As of yet, I have not attacked anyone, unless shareing scripture and pointing how unscriptural a thing(astrology) is is attacking someone. So far no one has used scriptures(untwisted) to say otherwise, but you admit I have been attacked, for what? Sharing scripture. I am not arguing or calling names. I ahve tried to discuss scripture, but there are people who simply will not accept scripture.

Would the following of a 'star' to the birthplace of the King be considered astrology? I am not condoning what is Biblically wrong, but I would not view this any more wrong than any other 'para' church activity that many accept today though without scriptural support.

I have read that in ancient times the Gospel was taught to some by the stars. I do not read the Biblical Codes Books, nor the Left Behind Series; the first because I don't trust any man (myself included) which such certainty that I would say 'Alas, the Code is Broken!!' The latter because of the reasons I stated earlier, if what God has revealed in the Scriptures is not sufficient to bring those who are His to Him, then the words written in Revelation stating that we should not take away nor add to are words of a 'denominationalist' jealously' guarding his own system. I believe simply that all Codes in the Bible are typology leading man to the Christ of God. The argument is from one side..."That is 'spiritualizing' or 'over-spiritualizing' the text.' From the other...'That is removing the spirit and installing too literal an interpretation.' This Board IMHO, is to be used as a place where I can lay on the table what I understand from scripture, if some do not agree then they lay their understanding on the table, if I am inconsiderate to others, or they to me, what does it hurt? Sure, as the children of God we should not be, but all too often we forget what manner of spirit we are of. (myself included). I know I have not always been considerate of the feelings of others, and if any are not considerate of my own then it is nothing to me.

Bro. Dallas, I believe the 'wise men' were great scholars who had been awaiting a sign of the birth of the prophesied one. They most certainly knew the O.T. prophecies pointing to the time and place of his birth!

Their gifts; Gold: A gift for a King.

    Frankincense: Malachi 1:11
But my name is honored by people of other nations from morning till night. All around the world they offer sweet incense and pure offerings in honor of my name. For my name is great among the nations," says the LORD Almighty.

    Myrrh
First mentioned as a principal ingredient in the holy anointing oil (Exodus 30:23). It formed part of the gifts brought by the wise men from the east, who came to worship the infant Jesus (Matthew 2:11). It was used in embalming (John 19:39), also as a perfume (Esther 2:12; Psalms 45:8; Proverbs 7:17). It was a custom of the Jews to give those who were condemned to death by crucifixion "wine mingled with myrrh" to produce insensibility. This drugged wine was probably partaken of by the two malefactors, but when the Roman soldiers pressed it upon Jesus "he received it not" (Mark 15:23).

Good Post Diane. Would I be considered an heretic if I consider the gift of Gold a representation of the diety of Christ?
