    Pastors,

If you look for an excellent, cost-friendly, commentary on 1, 2 Peter and Jude, Thomas Schreiner's commentary in the New American Commentary series is rather excellent.

Dr Schreiner of Southern seminary does a great job in interact with current literature and the most worthwhile on the books under consideration. And if you are into the Greek, he does his own translation when necessary and goes into the language of both the Old and New Testament to render the best possible translate. I give it 5 ******. Get it at wtsbooks.com for $18.89.

Thanks for the tip TC. I'm currently reading Schreiner's commentary of Romans along with Doug Moo's on Romans. I'm 3/4 through both. Schriener's format in the Romans commentary is very helpful and the way he arranges the translation from the greek is pure gold!

Careful Swaimj or you could turn into a Calvinist after ( or while ) reading those two Reformed men on the book of Romans . But that would be great !

I would agree. I preached through 1 Peter last year and his commentary was very valueable.

I also had the priviledge of having a DMin seminar with Schreiner and he is a very gracious and humble guy.

Everything I have seen by him has been top-notch!

    1. Those are the two best commentaries out there on Romans, IMO.

    2. I have to agree with PastorSBC1303 on Schreiner---he is very thoughtful and scholarly and considers the various positions on an issue. Schreiner reminds me of Moo--both take a similar approach to commentary writing.

As Ricardo Montalban said in that Star Trek movie (can't remember the character's name that he was playing): "To the death I grapple with thee...."

Ah, but let's not hi-jack this thread!
