She's called Elizabeth Windsor. And she turned 80 last Friday.

    Apparently.

(We've had to endure endless TV articles about it over the last week here for some reason which eludes me and, as you can probably gather, I'm getting a tad fed up with it.)

Happy birthday! I like her. The rest of the lot I could pretty much do without.

Her REAL birthday isn't until early June. It's just celebrated now because it's Springtime.

Don't let my mother hear you call her OLD. My mother's birthday is within a day or two of Elizabeth's.

Marilyn Monroe was also born that week in June 1926.

You're going to miss her when she's gone.

Other way round: 21st April 1926 was the date she was born. Her official birthday is 7th June (don't ask me why). I've decided my official birthday is today, so I expect lots of chocolate from everyone.

And, yes, we probably will all miss her when she's gone and the hapless Brian takes over the Firm...in much the same way as the Russians doubtless 'missed' Lenin when he was gone and Stalin took over...

Sounds like "The people have failed us. Therefore we must elect a new people."
