I brought it in as an additional evidence as to why the ELRC needs to be disbanded. Politics of that nature have no place in a denomination.

My above point was not entirely about labels but how you dismissed a point by point engagement with a rather flippant reply. Next time you might want to go back and provide substance rather than a cop out expression.

I don't care about labels. Seriously, call me what you want. In this forum I've been called all sorts of things. In another forum I'm the fundamentalist and conservative. Labels are libels, and are really variable depending on your position in life. :)

A social liberal can be a theological conservative. That's where I place myself. There isn't much if anything about my Christian beliefs that could be considered liberal. That's where you make the mistake, RevMitchell. You group the two together. In fact, it's partially my deeply held conservative religious beliefs that cause me to be a social liberal.

Freedom you would fit well in the Emergent Church where such wishy washy stands are celebrated.

Wht SPECIFICALLY do you say that? Are you one of those professing christians who believe that salvation consists only of repeating the sinner's prayer without any impact on your life? Do you accept Jesus not just as your Savior but also as the Lord of your life? Or is the Republican party the lord of your life?

Does the Lord's impact on your life tell you it's OK to come here and lie about who you really are ? Your self-piety is pretty sickening.

Equivalent to: "Hi pot, its kettle...you're so black!"

Ok, this one confirmed it for me. Freedom is definitely old Just Christian. Up until now, Freedom's posts have been a toned down version of old JC to the point that I wasn't sure (granted, I haven't read all of Freedom's posts). But he slipped a bit on this one, and showed one of his favorite pastimes - accusing Christians of worshiping the GOP. In addition, I remember JC was an ardent believer in Lordship salvation - to the point that some of his posts implied that he believed in works-based salvation - he made Johnny Mac look like a Free Gracer.

Shame on you, person from Georgia whoever you are - trying to post under a new name after being banned.

The pastor who mentioned about "Libbies" lives in Florida. Doesn't that say something about the impact of the religious there? The laws are liberal to protect the criminals and nothing is being done about it. Think about the car laws there.

A few years ago Henry Blackaby spoke about theological conservatives who are also practical atheists.

I find it interesting that Jesus called some who were at opposite ends politically in that society. Yet the church today has not read its Bible long enough to think about that.

Oh yeah, let's straddle the fence right up the middle never taking a stand on anything. Didn't Jesus say something about those who were neither cold nor hot? I believe it made Him sick.

What do you mean by self piety? Are you lying about who you really are?

Repent of your deception, and ask our forgiveness. That's what is commanded.

The OP reminds me of what someone said, What Satan likes to do is to get the Christian busy, busy and not producing. He sure got quite a number busy fighting and not sharing their faith.

Which part of the statement I made do you not understand? Is your contact with church folks, the world, and the SBC news so limited that you do not know?
