My only question is why does FOXNEWS think we care about this so much in America to harp on and on about it for hours on end. I say, let them kill each other and make the world a better place.

This happens here too. Ever see the riots in the winning hometown of a SuperBowl game?

I know it does. I just don't care about it. What possible reason does FNC possibly have to think that I give a rip about these drunk idiots. The only interesting part about it is that the snooty Europeans who think they are more intellectual and enlightened than we are just showed how stupid they really are.

FNC and the other cable news networks have to fill air time with something 24 hours, 7 days a week.

That sounds like inverted snootiness to me. C'mon Joseph, to label all Europeans as "snooty" is as stupid as labelling all Americans as loud and arrogant - it is stereotypical, and wholly unacceptable from a Christian point of view.

Yup, I would have to agree Ulsterman.

Your statement is indeed a "hasty generalisation" Joseph. As Christians we don't need this "me-they" kind of spirit.

Do I know "snooty" Europeans - yes.
Do I know "loud and arrogant" Americans - yes.

Are the majority of Europeans I know "snooty"? - no
Are the majority of Americans I know "loud and arroagant"? well.... - ONLY KIDDING :) - no, of course not

What don't we just generalise it this way instead - "All sports fan wherever they live in the world are a bunch of drunken, riotous idiots."

    stupid

    Hello Joseph,
I`m Welsh, and I suppose therefore, European. Hopefully though, not of the mindset you describe in your post. Perhaps you should not "tar us all with the same brush "
I am ashamed and embarrassed by the behaviour of some of these "fans" ,as are the majority of Europeans.
    With respect,
    Gwyneth

:laugh::laugh:Yeah, the Texans really don't set the world on fire, do they? Best shot was the Oilers in the Luv Ya Blue days. I don't expect the Lombardi Trophy to reside in Houston during my life time. I am glad Houston got an NFL team, but I still think Bud Adams is horrible for moving the Oilers. They demolished the old Astrodome scoreboard and added seats to meet his demands, and he moved the team anyway.

I must add I agree with Ulsterman also, the OP is just jingoistic "we are better than you" talk.

Yobs are yobs, whatever the nationality. A bit of "Two World Wars and one World Cup - losers! Losers!" from the English 'fans', a bit of sloppy policing by the Germans (not keeping the English and German yobs far enough apart) and far far too much alcohol, and you have a recipe for thuggery. Not specifically a European problem, just human nature, regrettably.

I had a good laugh a while ago. One of the local sports guys, who hates soccer, was trying to prove it was boring by showing "game highlights" in which he showed people passing the ball.

Someone ponted out to him that the ball is passed in soccer about the same percentage of time as players are standing around just talking to each other in American football.

It's why cheerleaders don't work for soccer; the play is pretty much continuous and there's no dead time for them to perform.

German fan, to an English Fan, after the 1990 World Cup:
"You don't mind us beating you at your national sport, do you?"

    English fan:
"Of course not. We beat you twice at yours."
