Yep. When it comes to deficit spending the GOP is chock full of hypocrites.

Ronald Reagon is an especially good example of this. He talked about reducing the size of government and reducing the debt but in reality he did neither.

It would be more interesting to see this charted with whom controlled congress, the real culprits when it comes to budgets and spending.

And to see how much spending each president proposed and how much the Congress eventually passed.

The chart didn't detail where that spending was done. Ronald Reagan, for example was a big military spender. We were in a Cold War with the Soviet Union at that time. Reagan had no other choice except to spend big on our military & a missle defense program. Every time the Soviets said they would cut back their spending & their nuclear weapons, they always lied about it.

At one point, Gorbachev told Reagan that they were going to cut back their spending on nuclear arms & Reagan told him that was fine, but he was going to continue his build up. The Soviets ended up going bankrupt as a result because they couldn't keep up with our spending. That led to the fall of the Communist Party in Russia.

It may have done some damage to our economy, but it was worth it. It didn't take too long to bounce back from it.

I don't particularly care for government programs or most bureaucratic organizations.

In summary, Military Spending = Good; government programs / bureaucratic organizations = Bad.

The only democrats in the country who know who controlls spending is the ones in the House. The only reason the deficit went down under Clinton is that the Republican Presidents Reagan and Bush 41 had

    1. Whupped up on the Soviet Union, upsetting the democrats who did not want their soul mates beat up on.
    2. The Republican's took over the House in 1994 and forced Clinton to move toward a balanced budget.

Also under the malaise of Jimmy Carter the Military had declined forcing increased spending by Reagan.

Translation: Deficits to kill people = Good; Deficits to help people = Bad

That was my point, and why I suggested that a chart showing who controlled congress would be more telling.

Many economists believe that the Soviet Union would have collapsed anyway even if Reagan hadn't increased military spending.

It's just a fact of life.

Republicans invariably have to increase defense spending just to get our defensive capabilities back to where they should be, after the neglect of democrats, and not counbting what they hav e to budget just to maintain our defense capabilities.

Without Reagan, our Navy would be almost non-existent.

Ships cost a lot of money.

Not at all. The Constitution gives the Federal government two responsibilities: deliver the mail and defend the country. They have done a poor job at delivering the mail but the Military has kept us free in spite of the resistance of the democrats/liberals/leftists during the Cold War. If they had their way the hammer and sickle would be flying over DC.

Does "where they should be" be to maintain world supremacy? I don't support that objective and I don't know why any Christian should support that.

Many people also believe the moon landing was a hoax. Doesn't mean they're in touch with reality.

Back to the OP...Big-spending Republicans are one of the primary reasons they lost control of the houses and presidency.

    Yea, that's it alright!

You can continue to tell yourself these lies if you want.

The reason you lost the last election is because of the disastrous reign of Bush and because the country isn't 't nearly as right-wing as you believe it is.
