    Yes. In the book, I'm told that Coulter takes issue with J. Edgar Hoover's conclusions on a number of American diplomats that McCarthy had called communists.

    Supposedly, the FBI was really hacked at McCarthy, because his interference in the Ft. Monmouth investigation helped two suspected Soviet agents flee to Russia before they could be identified.

    At that point, the FBI quit giving any special help to McCarthy, and some of the reports since made public have shown that they actually concluded the opposite of what McCarthy said about persons being investigated.
