Why not? Who cares? You are not still under the illusion that Bush is your pastor, or even a Christian, are you?

If an administration lawyer is involved, then won't our tax dollars be involved?

I agree. I don't want to pay for Bush's whims.

Good question. It could have something to do with a long time friendship with the deceased or the hopes of maintaining federal control of the courts, based solely on what we read in that article.

I don't see what the problem is. You would think he had been alone with her in the Oval office playing cigar games the way some of you are acting. What is the problem?

Didn't say much about it at all.

Doesn't the surviving spouse automatically have whatever the deceased spouse left behind, be it wealth or debt?

I would be surprised that this is the only case where there is a disagreement over an inheritance.

So why is the White House siding with Anna Nicole Smith instead of choosing a case with a more reputable person to defend if this is simply the White House wanting federal power over probate issues?

    Bunyon,

What are you talking about? I don't see anyone on this thread who has in the least mentioned the sin of adultery about which former president Bill Clinton lied about under oath, and then was impeached for later by Congress. You are the only person before now who has even brought that up.

Based on what I read in the article, that is the best answer I can give you what I said above. I have no solid answers for you. Just pure speculation based on very little from MSNBC.

You seem to think this is some kind of moral issue since you seem to think it underscores you contention that Bush is not a Pastor or Christian, so if morality is in question here, I used sarcasim to point out how silly that would be given the alternatives. I am not sure how this would reflect on his faith at all.

If I were a pastor, I would not spend one penny of my Church's money to defend legally the moral pervert, Anna Nicole Smith. Maybe you would, but I wouldn't.

My understanding is there are some true legalities in the case that need to be addressed as it concerns bankruptcy law. I heard one of the justices say it on Larry King. But I know you do support equal protection under the law regardless of the moral character of the complainant.

Sure I do. I just wouldn't pay for it with my Church's money. Would you?

Well I think that the Bush admins interest is not in Nichole, even thought she is er hem, Interesting. There has been a lot of activity in bankruptcy law in the government and the courts. I surmise that they are involved in the case for the legal implications and not for Nichole.

</font>[/QUOTE]Nobody has said anything about adultery. We're talking about missuse of our tax dollars. Malfeasance. Missappropriation of funds.

I did not claim it was in Nicole. Read what I wrote above. At the same time, I still wouldn't spend my Church's money defending her. Would you?

I don't think so, because my church dose not concern itself with bankruptcy law. She does not need the admins financial support.

But you seemed to think it reflected on his faith. I think it is political and legal. It has nothing to do with her. They are concerning themselves with the possible legal precedents that might be established.

Has nothing to do with his faith, as he is not a pastor, he is a secular leader of a secular nation. Now, there is other evidence that he is not on the right road when it comes to his faith, particularly his universalist views.

Perhaps, but the Anna N. Smith thing is about the laws of bankruptcy. There has been alot of activity on bankruptcy in the last year. It has nothing to do with Ann N. Smith and her em'er assets.
