This is another example of Blue journalism. The issue is not Anna Nicole Smith but the jurisdiction of the Federal Courts on bankruptcy.

    OR,

I think I suggested that possibility earlier on page 1.

This isnt about bankruptcy, its probate.

She, at age 26, married an 89 year old man in 94 who promptly died in 95. She feels, as his widow, that she is entitled to his estate worth roughly 474 million. His son does not think so.

I wonder what the will says.

I also wonder why it has gotten to this level too.

No, it's not automatic. There's a legal presumption that a spouse has a basic entitlement, but a surviving spouse is not a defacto sole hier.

In this case, there was a preexisting will which left the whole of the estate to the son, and left nothing to the spouse.

Why does Bush want to support her claim?

Sorry guys, I is about bankruptcy. I guess you missed my post. I watched one of the Justices on Larry King live. Larry King reacted much like some of you are about why they were taking the case. The Supreme Court Justice said it was a BANKRUPTCY case. But maybe he was drunk or something. [IMG]

Actually I don't know, but that is what the justice told King when he was scratching his head over it. He clearly said it was a "bankruptcy" case.

Perhaps she is claiming bankruptcy IF she cant get her mitts on the 474 million? I saw nothing about that when I read the news stories linking the Bush Admin supporting her claim to the estate.

Maybe this is when it is time to cut the cord on the tv?

I don't know, but I'll go with what the Justice said.

Oh, btw, this is from the link on post one. Notice it says "federal bankruptcy judge". The administration is in it because of the legal issues concerning bankruptcy, not because of Anna N Smith.

"A federal bankruptcy judge sided with Smith in the fight over her late husband’s estate, awarding her $474 million. That was reduced to about $89 million by a federal district judge, then thrown out altogether by a federal appeals court."------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ah this is why there is White House interest. Clement is the US Solicitor General.
