Let's put the government in charge of taking care of the poor. And let's tell the poor they need the government to ensure their good welfare. After all, the left tells us it's the Christian thing to do.

That 850 billion dollar bailout last year, and the one about equal cost that will be enacted later this month is like pouring money down a rat hole. Aside from not believing in the notion that the market can take care of itself, the money is squandered by inept enconomists that do not use it to help, and there is no accountability.

The first 100 billion should have been used to build a prison to house the likes of the people in this article. There would be plenty of room for Blago, Richardson, Edwards, Foley, Craig, Spitzer, etc, etc, etc. If it were up to me, the daily routine for these and the Wall Street crooks would be pounding rocks and chain gangs.

There is no way to talley the human toll of suffering that these self-centered thieves have caused the American people in lost jobs, retirement, and just general suffering.

You left out Barney Frank and Chris Dodd.

The saddest thing is, there will be people on this very board who tell us we need to give these criminals more control over our own money, so they can help the poor & downtrodden, because Christians won't do it.

    Liberal logic is an oxymoron.

Laissez-faire economics winds up with the majority of the money in the hands of the elites and the common man and woman ends up living in depressed conditions and working in sweat shops and in unsafe work places.

It is the Christian thing to do. Did you tear that page our of your Bible or something?

More dribble from that conservative media, you would think all they have room to report is the problems of the Liberals while the conservative problems get no coverage...

I agree, I think it's time we hold these elected officials accountable for their actions and I think each crime as this sort should treason or betrayal to their oath included in the sentencing...

How narrow sighted of you, these people are not government any more than you and I are the Church. They are one small part of Government and don't represent the entire institution.

I also never said the Church won't help the poor, but as you can clearly see, there are more poor than the Church has resources to help. So what is the problem with the Church using its influence to get government to join their cause?

You can add another half million from the job losses from the month of December. If this keeps up, there will be no one in the Church who has a job to give the Church the means to help. On that day, the Church will be at the front of the line looking for help...

Yep, without regulation and laws, we'd still have child labor (of course we now use Chinese child labor, but what the hey?)

If you like any of the following, thank a liberal!
    • 40-hour weeks and the weekend
    • Child labor laws
    • Liveable wages
    • Safe workplaces
    • Non discrimination for age, gender, religion, or disability
Yep, those pesky liberals with their butting into the free market of the power brokers exploiting the workers sure are a pain in the neck, ain't they?

The ONLY person who has control over that money is the Republican Sec. of the Treasury Henry M. Paulson, Jr. Despite enormous concern raised about having appropriate oversight over how the bailout money was spent somehow the Republicans managed to give him total control. He has completely changed direction and hasn't really revealed how the first half of the $750B was spent. Where did all the money given to AIG go? Partially for a big party weekend at a resort. That is indicative of the complete failure of the Bush administration in every area,

JC, why on earth must you make every single post about Bush?

It gets old. Give it a rest.

The Bush administration has been so thoroughly demonized that even many so called Christians believe it all, and are on board....
