In answer to your comment, Blammo, yes, Luke calls Joseph Jesus' parent without quoting anyone.

And from the Bishops' Bible, of which the KJV was a revision...

Tyndale and Wycliffe also called Joseph Jesus' father in this verse...

Yes, Joseph was called Jesus' father in the KJV and prior to the KJV.

In the KJB, when Joseph is called Jesus' father, it is quoting folks who don't know any better.

    You mean like Mary?

Scott, I think the original question/statement was made in all honesty. We really shouldn't make an issue of it at this point.

This thread is only open for one purpose - to discuss the use of "father" before the KJV.

We had 8 pages of the previous topic.

Luke 2:48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

Yep, you're right. Thank you for pointing that out.

Thank you, Keith M, for your kind response.

BTW, it was a question and should have been presented that way. You seem to be the only one who recognized that. Thanks again.

Another thing, Blammo...The KJV and other versions which say "parents" or "thy father" in the Luke passages in question are accurately translating the GREEK.

There was never any question that I know of about the role of Joseph "back in the day". This is a modern thingie invented by some of the homeboys of a certain false doctrine who are looking to find fault with certain Bibles. But I don't know it all, and if anyone knows of any old commentary before 1611 mentioning anything about Joseph's fatherhood of Jesus, I'd like to see some info on it.

Well, we are back to the old topic - thread closed.

We are not going to let thread turn into KJVO discussions folks.

As long as they do I will keep closing them.
