    Hi, everyone,
I hope this is the right board to ask this. I'm usually content to quietly read almost all that is posted here, but I have a friend who is asking me about this and I don't even know what we're talking about. I told her I knew all these brilliant people who could help :D (that's you guys). So, here is her question:

"I've questioned the Anti deluvian peroid for a long time and explainations are just not in laymen terms for me to understand fully...can you ask about that"

Please, please, please don't make me go to the Creation/Evolution discussion. It was really painful just to come out of my shell to post this here

Thanks for any insights you have.

It's good to see you again, Purple Lady! I was wondering what had ever happened to you.

First of all, "ante-diluvian" means "before Noah's Flood." I sort of think your friend knows that, but just in case...

The Bible gives us some interesting hints about these people. Genesis 5:1 indicates that what we have from the beginning in Genesis is a written record of events. We know the ages men could expect to live were many times what ours are now.

I'm not going to ask you to go into the creation/evolution forum, but you might be interested in some material my husband and I pulled together for the Bible studies in Genesis here in this Board:

    Genesis 1-2: http://www.baptistboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=43;t=000003

    Genesis 3-4: http://www.baptistboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=43;t=000004

    Genesis 5: http://www.baptistboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=43;t=000005

    Hope that helps a little!

Again, good to see you here. God bless.

Excellent! Thanks so much, Helen. I was afraid it was something that should into that section.

I've been around, just really busy and quiet. I check in here as often as I can to keep kinda caught up. I know when I need help with a topic, this is the place I can find it.

    Again, Thanks,
    Carolyn

We assume the Noahic Flood to be around 3200 BC, but creation at nearer 6-8,000+ BC. So this entire era becomes the "ante" deluvian era.

(anti = against; ante = before. We use this to talk about the old South prior to the Civil War when we talke about "antebellum" - before the war)

This makes the ante-deluvian era about as long as the post-deluvian era since. There has been a lot of history since Noah and we are well aware of much of it (pyramids, written records, etc).

Only the Bible contains short glimpses of what it was like prior to the flood. No other records survived the deluge.
