We got another paid professional running into the stands. This time instead of a head case like Ron Artest, who ran into the crowd and punched the wrong fan, we have a stand up guy. Antonio thought his wife, family were in trouble with a fan or some fans even (depending on what report you hear) ran into the crowd to CHECK on his family. No punches or wild accusations just ran up to see what was gong on.
I don't think this guy deserves any punishment. And I don't think any of us would do any different under the circum stances.

Disagree. A player has no business leaving the playing field or court during the course of a game. I know it may take discipline as in this case, but it sets a bad precedent.

We were born to disagree Johnv! You have the right to be wrong and I will defend that right.

Under normal circumstances a player has no business going into the stands.

However, this was an exception. I do not blame Davis at all and I would have done the exact same thing.

And if I am Davis, I do not care how much they fine me or suspend me, as protecting family comes first.

The Knicks have their very own security guard on the bench with them and along with the other security things could have been under control without Davis running into the stands. It could have been much worse with him doing that.

Also, ESPN and other places are reporting that the fan that was involved and supposedly touched Davis's wife is now suing them. He claims to not have been drunk and not to have done anything wrong. He claims that Davis's wife approached him and touched his face. She has been well known for being a loud and kind of obnoxious fan. It will be interesting to see what happens with the lawsuit.

But IMO, Davis had no right going into the stands without knowing the full details; again he could have made this situation a much worse one.

Tough issue for the NBA. It would be impossible for them to begin making exceptions and citing examples of when it's OK for a player to enter the stands. Even though I really don't blame this player, the NBA is correct to suspend him. There must be other security measures in place to protect family & fans without the NBA condoning a player leaving the court.

The fan who is planning to sue David and wife for $1 million dollars, KNEW that Davis' wife was innocent. And David saw over there, he was being imagined or suspect something happen to his wife, that why he ran over there to check on her of his concerning.

Being sue Davis for $1 million is STUPID and fool! The fan knows they are innocent, fan only wants is MONEY $$$$. That's evil.

David is suspended for 5 games seem to me it is fair and much few games than what Jeremaine O'Neal got from last year.

Many think 5 games are too harsh. Well, David knows better than that, he brokes NBA's rule for across the line.

But, I consider, he should get fines and suspended only 1 or 2 games, no big deal. He didn't brawl with any fans, he just came over there to check on his wife with his concerning. That is his defend for his wife.

There is huge difference between Davis' and big brawl at The Palace from last year. Ron Artest fought with fans in physical. Make sense that Ron Artest was suspended for whole season. David being suspended 5 games do not make a sense to me, because he went up there to protect his wife.

Davis said, he later learned that the fan was drunk.

All NBA games, all achochal drinking must be banned for good.

Also, there were no security guards came over to that area while Davis was right there for a while. Security guards should have immediate run down there to stop them. Why they didn't doing it? That was security guards' fail for not go down there to halt them.

Right now, I believe Davis' union player is apply case protest on David Sterns' decision for suspended 5 games. No question, David disagrees with Sterns' decision. Even, lot of Knicks fans disagree with Sterns' decision.

Oh well, Davis have to accept his consequence, and not do it again next time.

Family comes first. Davis was right to do what he did, though it probably put himself and his wife in more jeopardy. I appreciate the Chicago fans who pointed out the perp.

Davis will get some sort of punishment from the league. It should happen, as long as it is minimal.

Most of us would PastorsBC and the fines and suspensions will not stop ONE player from running into the stands if he feels his family is in danger.

Now on the other hand it seems that Davis wife may have been the problem and not the fans. She was in his face and touching him. And not the first time there was an incident with her and a fan. However it sounds like the family of out of town players may get a special section to sit in. Mainly due to the rise of fan violence they say.

It does seem that she may have been the problem.
