How about a nice friendly thread on the BB amidst all of the debating?

Personally, I knew C4K before ever coming on the BB. We are with the same mission board had a great time at our national meeting one furlough. Alas, our furloughs haven't coincided since then, and Ireland is nowhere near Japan. :(

I've also made friends on the BB, including gaining a supporting pastor and church. Looking forward to meeting you in person, Brother! Don't know if you want me mentioning your name in connection with church business in the open like this, but I'm glad to claim you. :wavey:

How about you? Made any friends on the BB?

    P. S. Question 2 should be "genuine friends." Sorry!

I've made a couple of casual friends that I think would become genuine friends if not for the fact that we live in different parts of the country.

Pocadots and I have made friends with Tinytim and his wife. When we met, it was like we'd known them for years. His wife and I really clicked. TT's dad now attends our church.

Also, mcdirector has become a friend, though we haven't met in person. She was a godsend for me when I had a really tough issue to deal with.

I think I have made lots of friends on the BB, although they might not agree.

I also like to debate my friends, and even though we may disagree sharply on some things, they are still my friends and I still love them in Christ.

I don't know many people. But I like Ireland. One of my fondest memories is trekking through the Ring of Kerry.

I made a train trip from NY to Fla to meet a BB'er. Along the way another BB'er met me at the train station - and the train only stopped for about 5 minutes! He drove about 15 miles to meet me.

Also have met in person at least one other NY'er.

When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be, when we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory!

It's great to hear about BB folks meeting in person! I'd been wondering about that.

If anyone ever takes a train through Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan, just let me know and I'll be right at the train station. And we have an international airport (goes to Hong Kong and Korea once a week), since we have one of the most popular zoos in this part of Asia.

And by the way, the BB is a little bit of a zoo, doncha think?

I have met several genuine friends on the BB. We exchange phone calls, snail mail, and emails.

I have met two friends in person, BibleBelievingBill, as he was traveling through here to attend a conference. We had supper together, with my DH and grandson.

And we met Don, and his wife and sons at a basketball game at our Christian school.

We all had a good time and I now consider them genuine friends.

Of course, my son, Pastor Bob, and two of his sons are members here. I knew them before though.

I have many, many casual friends here. But most importantly, I have met some great prayer warriors and defender's of the faith! :saint:

I have met C4K and went to college with his son. I don´t know JofJapan but we are associates in a sense being with the same mission agency. Same goes with C4K obviously.

Other than that I just have acquaintances or as the poll says "acquantances". (Sorry John, could not let that one pass by since I have terrible spelling myself. It encourages me to see other errors lol!)

Probably have a few "enemies" too I suppose.

I know John of Japan, 4His_Glory, and Ulsterman. My wife and I met Followinghim and her husband in England.

I know a few others who don't post as well.

I feel like good friends with a lot of folks here I have never met.

Well, let's see.. .I don't mind everyone knowing that our church is a proud supporter of John's mission! God has a wonderful way of connecting people to accomplish his goal. I can't wait until you come for deputation... BTW, do you know how I can get a copy of that video of you on youtube singing, "this little light of mine"? I would love for our church to see that.

As for ABC and Pocadots... We loved meeting them, and they were instrumental in getting my dad back in church after 18 yrs.

I have made other friends on here as well, although I have not met them in person, we are connected through facebook or myspace, and hopefully one day we will get the chance to meet...

We really need a BB family reunion or something... a place where we can come to and fellowship. There was talk a few yrs ago about a BB cruise...

How about a big ol Pot luck dinner at someone's church say in Tennesee, OK, or somewhere logistically possible...
We could have a weekend long fellowship with workshops, worship, etc...

A Baptist gathering! What a great idea!

(if I do say so myself)

I had a friend on the BB before I came. In fact, he was the one who told me about the BB and encouraged me to join.

I used to have a friendly rivalry with the poster, JohnV, we enjoyed debating issues surrounding Islam. However, he does not seem to post here anymore.

Well, we try to put a mistake in once in awhile for those who enjoy finding them, right?

Maybe we'll meet next furlough, God willing.

I can get a DVD of that to you, but it may take awhile since we have camp next week and they made me the director. :BangHead: It's from a 1955 Gospel film called "Bringing In the Sheaves." I was a child star--briefly.

Hey, let's think big. How about the "Baptist Board International Fellowship of 2009." We could hold it here in Japan.... :saint:

I would like to think that I have friends on BB, but friendship is a two way street, so I do not know if some like me or not. I like several on here personally. I have received from several on here, very close friendship remarks and feelings.

I consider some friends. I've never met any in person but had a couple of very nice phone calls about five years ago when I underwent major surgery.

There were a few worth meeting in person, the Barnabas pair, a couple from Ill., etc..

I brought a couple friends on here. None of them lasted.

There's a few I talk on the phone to occasionally, and one that I talk on the phone to a LOT and has become very close to my heart, even though we've never met in person. There are some I'm not really close friends with otherwise, but they're frequently brought up in my prayers and I watch their prayer threads.

And then there's a few that were very instrumental in helping me grow as a new Christian when I first joined. They answered questions, didn't point out I was acting foolishly when I argued against some of the wiser ones on here, but just kept showing me the truth of some of my flawed thinking. I'm forever grateful to those people.

Dr. Bob is one whose opinion I have come to value, probably more so than anyone else's when it comes to theological matters and the testimony he has maintained in his personal life, which comes through in his posts. While we've never met, he is responsible for more than he knows in my life, having rooted out a lot of the nasty remnants of LDS thinking I had through some of his posts, most of which weren't even addressed to me, but answered them nonetheless.

I've also managed to make a few seeming enemies, but there's a place for everyone in our lives, and we learn something from everyone we come across.

But...there's a lot to be said for this board. It feels like home to me. I joined here in my spiritual infancy, so everyone's seen me in my diapers so I have to love them. LOL They're family, even when we don't get along or talk for a while. And they've never kicked me out. HA! There's something to be said for that. It makes me feel loved...because I know I haven't always been the most loveable person on here!
