Would it make sense to have something like that for either Nasb/Niv?
I believe the Amplified is the ASV1901 with other renderings and understandings in the parenthesized amplifications.
I did not know that it is based off the 1901 ASV!
is it basically putting in margins of text the alternate renderings/explainings of the words etc?
I have found it useful. By putting in synonyms, especially for words that cannot be translated with one word, I believe a better understanding of what is mean can be determined.
It's good for helping you understand certain points of a passage. I would however not recommended it for your reading through the Bible as it would take longer.
No, the alternate words are in the text, which makes it quite annoying to read. You can find it on biblegateway.com.
