Thirty years ago I was given a number (probably 50+) hardbound books by Greene. They are good, mostly book studies, but are "basic" and not deep studies. Excellent for SS teachers and personal use.

Anyone interested, let me know with a p.m. or email.

    Dr. Bob,

Yes, I became very fond of the man in July of 1963 driving across S.C. one night listening to him on the radio and the Holy Spirit took the message and used it to lead me to accepting Christ as Saviour. I had been a Baptist since 1957 but not really a Christian.
I like his books and have about 35 of them. They are very good for SS.

Yes, I like Oliver B. Greene. I liked to hear him on the radio, and I still use a lot of his expressions such as the one about not wanting a little dog to go to hell and trying to grab it by the hind leg. It is too bad that he has gone off the radio, but the expense of keeping him on would be high. They need to record some of his sermons on CDs and sell them to people who miss the sound of his voice.

His nephew, Mike Bagwell, sells tapes of Dr. Greene's sermons. They are $4 each I think.

I am glad to know it and when God blesses me with a full-time job and helps me pay off all my little bills, I will buy some of those tapes of Oliver B. Greene.

Thank you so much for the information about his nephew Mike Bagwell! You know, I did not always live in the big city, but once was a small town Hoosier (20,000 people) on the banks of the Wabash and one of my grandfathers was a farmer so I spent a lot of weekends and summer days in the country. My grandparents went to a tiny little church down on the Wabash River and my great grandparents and great aunts and uncles are buried in that tiny church graveyard. Sometimes the past seems more alive than the present. I am talking about things that were fifty years ago.

  7. I am a fan of Oliver B. Greene. I have a few tapes and have seen some of his books and in the future I am hoping to buy some of his books, Lord willing.

If I'm not mistaken, I found 2 phonograph albums today at the antique store for $1.00 each . . . one was a Christmas album and the other a gospel album put out by his ministry! I didn't get them, but maybe I should have!

Dr. Greene is a favorite of mine. There is a radio station, that can be heard in our area, which airs his old broadcasts. I can remember when I was small, how many preachers would preach with that same zeal and conviction.

I grew up in Greenville, SC and was a member of Dr. Greene's home church. Dr. Harold Sightler was our pastor, who has a great many books of his own that are wonderful commentaries, BTW! I remember the day Dr. Greene died, hearing on the BJU radio station that he was gone. This was in the mid-70's, so I was just a little girl, of course! [IMG] I love to hear Dr. Greene's sermons. He was a master of communicating God's love and assurance!

WEll mercy I diddn't know he'd gone off the radio! I just listened to him a couple of weeks ago. He came on kinda late at night, so I didn't get to hear him often, but yes I've always thought he was a great preacher.Through his messages, I've learned a lot. I remember when I found out that he'd been dead for awhile, I cried. All that time, I thought that was really him every night on the radio.
My pastor, a friend of mine have a lot of his books, and they're always letting me borrow some book or another.
Doctor Bob, yes I'd be interested, but there's no way I could afford to buy them, or have them shipped to me. I do hope someone gets them though.
I'm so glad one day I'll meet him, and all the others gone on before me to Heaven. That just get's me excited! I especialy can't wait to see my Saviour!

My grandparents had an extensive collection of his writings which I now have. His sermon booklets are easily accessible references.
