Anyone heard of Ferrar-Fenton Translation (1853)?

I don't know about all this nonsense but I DO OWN A FERRAR FENTRON translation. I should note it is translated using the Wescott & Hort Texts.
I DO like however as far as W & H goes. Read
"BY Periods God created that which produced the Solar Systems; then that which produced the Earth. But the Earth was unorganized & empty; & darkness covered it's convulsed surface; while the breath of God rocked the surface of it's waters." Gen 1 : 1,2
What I think is REALLY outstanding it's its rendering of the Psalms & other poetical books. They are actually in metre. You read them out loud & you can hear the cadence/metre. It's BEAUTIFUL, simply glorious!
On the negatives (other than it being Wescott & Hort derived) he uses a lot of "big" words so someone with a limited vocabulary would have to have a dictionary nearby. I do love it though. I am about to finish a reading of the NT out of it. I have been reading through th NT every month out of a different translation.
Anyways my 2 cents on that translation.
Also ANOTHER thing of note the books are in a "different" order. 1 John comes right AFTER the gospel of John. Also the OT is in a whole other order than the "traditional".
I also DO NOT like how many times he will make a note & say something like "this was not in the original manuscripts" or "this was probably a note from a scribe & not meant as part of scripture" then REMOVE that verse & insert it at the end of the book. I do NOT like that AT ALL.The way he writes about his endeavor does sound VERY pompus & condescending as well. In any case like I said in spite of it's flaws I enjoy even if just for the poetical books.

    Thanks, 3John2! [IMG]

Did you find any connection between this Bible and British Israelism? Just wondering.

Honestly I don't care or pay ANY attention to British Israelism so I haven't found that.
