    HeadCoveredLady --

I understand that we cannot write someone's
name in the thread title. Am I right? Well, this
    is to you anyway.

When I realized that more than one person
thought I was accusing you of claiming right-
eousness by wearing dresses and of making
it a salvific issue, I was shocked. What I wrote
apparently looked that way, but that could not
be further from my intention or from what I was
    thinking.

But I did what I often do when Ii don't know why
someone thinks as they do or when I feel I am
falsely accused--I did my turtle act, crawling
into my shell and pretending that it does not
    matter.

But I got back on the thread and read a little
tonight, and realized that it could be that you
    thought the same thing.

No, HCL! NO and double NO!

When I was writing that I am self-righteous,
I meant it, and I was asking if you sometimes
feel the same way--that maybe you are as
well. I did not intend this as a put-down! I
    was asking a serious question!

Perhaps it is a misunderstanding on my
part of the term, but believe me, I have no
reason to put you down with my question. I
have no desire to put you down, to hurt you,
or to do anything to rreject or criticize you.
Tthis is not in my heart; therefore, it is not on
    my mind. 8o)

Please forgive me for giving ANYONE that
    idea.

    In love,
    Abiyah

    Dear Abiyah,
I appreciate you taking the time to write that in humility. I never once thought you were accusing me of anything like that. In fact I have been blessed by your calm gentle demeanor, even though we disagree in this issue.
You have not said anything that offended me at all, but I do know what you are talking about.
Was it I that you feel have falsely accused you? Could you please pm me and tell me if I have done this.

All of this was done so publicly, I hope you don't
mind if Ii answer you publicly. 8o)

No, I do not think you made that accusation. It
is just that from what I read, Ii did not want you
    to think that.

You don't know how relieved Ii am that you did
not get that impression. I can now breathe. 8o)
It breaks my heart to think of hurting anyone on
    this board.

Just believe me: you have done NOTHING
    wrong!

We serve the same God and His Son, who is
Wonderful Counselor. He needs no little
lawyers down here trying His cases nor any
little judges determining fault in His own children.
I certainly am too smalll to wear such shoes.

I will respond to this even though I didn't post on this thread.

Why is it that we can discuss ball games and Mary Kay parties and not have a problem, but when we get to personal convictions it becomes a hot topic and one open for ridicule and mockery? Most of us claim to be saved and sometimes we sure don't act like it, my self included.

I will apologize if I have offended anyone in my posts. :( [IMG]

Hi, Walls. I think it is because:
    * Many of us are want to know why, the basis for
the thought, how other Scripture is dealt with in
the face of it, what the historical implications are,
whether or not we feel it is legitimate for all. This
is why I ask questions and/or challenge.
    * Many are curious.
    * Many like a good debate.
    * A few like an argument.
    * Even fewer enjoy the concept that they are wiser
than those with whom they disagree.

    Abiyah,
I will have to put myself in the category of, "I love a good debate." As if no one could tell. . I have tried to refrain from debating but I always seem to get riled up and will keep going. The Lord has been dealing with me on this.

The other day when my husband was conducting family devotions he was reading from Ecclesiates about striving after the wind. I knew that was a word from the Lord and coupled with some other words of wisdom here I realized the Lord was telling ME to stop debating.

8oD ! Shall we debate about debating? 8oD

The Lord has dealt with you in this area, and I
certainly understand and respect your position.
Still, debate has been a great tool for my hus-
band and myself, although we will not argue.

We are still, like birds emerging from the
shell, emerging from the damaging church of
which we were both members for over 50 years.
Bits of "shell" and "albumen" still stick to us: we
are not completely clean yet. 8o)

I was excommunicated nearly a year before he
left, so I found my own way--the synagogue I
attended from before I was excommunicated.
When he left, he needed to find a "Sunday
church" because he works most Saturdays.
The result is that we went basicaly two direc-
tions, although he has taken two years Hebrew
at my synagogue and other classes they offer.

As a result, we are learning doubly fast through
debate--twice as fast as it would be if we had
both taken the same route. I learn something,
bring it home, and we debate it with Bibles,
concordances, and cyclopedic indexes in hand!
Debate, for us, is both a fulfilling and learning
tool. He learns something else, brings it home,
    and we debate.

We have come to the same conclusions,
although this has sometimes been painful, on
almost all concepts. We have only a few "hold-
    outs."

But arguing? No. We don't go there. 8o)

Perhaps I have not been clear, but HCL and I
have no problem with one another. 8o) In fact,
    I consider her a friend. 8o)
