We hear this all the time, yet is there any basis to these claims? Has Mary really ever actually appeared in a vision to people?

Apparantly it happened in front of a crowd in Cairo, these photographs have been published online.

    Interested in your thoughts.

    Just two comments:

    1. The web address you provided is misleading, since NONE of the pictures are "visions of Jesus Christ". Therefore, I would reject the pictures, as well as the website, as a lie. "Mary" IS NOT "Jesus Christ".

    2. It is extremely easy in today's world to fake pictures. I have even seen holographs which looked real. Check out, too, what Disney did with Animatronics. If someone wishes to fake something and make people believe it, there will be someone to believe it anyway.

Are the pictures doctored? I do not know. Did the crowd pictured actually SEE what the other pictures show? Again, I do not know. Was the "image" of Mary real? I do not know, but I doubt it.

    Okay, a third point!

    3. In the OT, the Jews were commanded NOT to seek knowledge through necromancy, the speaking of and to the dead. IF this is a "vision of Mary", would this not be the same thing? Since God never changes, He still does not want us to practice necromancy. Yet some of us (humans) still do so. God didn't like it then, and I doubt He likes it now.

Isn't the title of this thread redundant?

I believe that people do see images, they are not the images that they think they are seeing, though. If satan can appear as an "angel of light" he sure can appear as Mary.

I agree, especially with the "live" images of Mary as happened at Fatima, Lourdes, Medjugorje, and other places. This was not Mary. We shouldn't take it so lightly as people are being deceived by these apparitions.

The appearance in the link in the first post apparently involves the Koptic orthodox Church which is definitely not part of the Catholic Church. The Kopts have been doing their own thing since at least the Council of Chalcedon of 451 A.D..

There are legends that claim that Mary was resurrected after her death and ascended into Heaven afterwards. For those not believing in Sola Scriptura that solves a lot of problems.
