I don't have the specifics handy (I was at church using my trusty e-sword software,) but I found this link that may be helpful from a Baptist seminary professor...

What specifically is confusing about it?

    Scott:

Might I suggest that you learn Hebrew and then you'll be able to tell for yourself?

    S&T:

What does your prideful statement have to do with the fact that I did not go back to the bible version that you were referring to to look at how the Hebrew was put up again. I guess that you have never turned a letter around in your writing...how fortunate.

    Scott:

you lied about being "very familiar with Aramaic and Hebrew.

    S&T:

There you go with the name calling again. Does it somehow make you feel good about yourself Scott? Maybe I will contact your pastor to see how he feels about your actions. You need to get control of yourself.

    Scott:

The same stuff was happening in the Message thread regarding Greek.

    S&T:

All I saw on the message thread was a lot of name calling and looking for allies.

    Scott:

I am glad that you have conceded the point

    S&T:

Yes, I admit that I made a mistake in putting up the Hebrew [shin - vav] on the forum. Do you view this as some kind of victory? If you do not make mistakes, then I guess you do not need Jesus.

What specifically is confusing about it?

    S&T:

That many of the sacred name bibles that I reviewed rendered the name as YAHshua. It is common in the sacred name movement.

I am sorry that you feel that I am calling you names. I most certainly am not. I cannot find a single instance in these posts where I have called you a name. I have, instead, made mention of your behaviour, which is something that is completely different. I believe that you are not as familiar with Aramaic and Hebrew as you say you were, and your posts seem to indicate that. Maybe we have a different idea of what "familiarity" is, I don't know. God knows the Truth, so why don't we just leave that up to Him.

If you truly believe that you are very familiar with Aramaic and Hebrew, then go ahead and believe that. I'm not "out of control" in saying that, and I'm not sure why you think I am. All you would have to do is let me know of your education and experience in the languages. Everything in my gut and intuition tells me that the evidence seen doesn't match someone who is "very familiar with Greek and Hebrew." I'm not being mean to you - my students will tell you that I will call them out if I believe they are not speaking the truth as well - I'm just calling it how I see it. If you disagree, then we'll have to agree to disagree.

I shall never respond to another one of your post since I personally believe that you claim to know doesn't match up with what you know. The rest of the board can decide what they believe about it, but I know where I stand on this matter.

    Hey Scott,

We both have to lighten up brother. [IMG] No hard feelings on my end .Hopefully none on yours. Let's not go to the never speaking again place. I think you are an intelligent guy, and sometimes things get a little heated between us, but I do enjoy discussing topics with you. I just smacked myself in the side of the head. It's all better now. Let's just play nice in the future. When we get to heaven, I will give you a nougie there. [IMG]

    S&T:

I think that it is a really good article. The only reservation that I have is with the name Yeshu.
The name Yeshu is often associated to the words "Immach Schemo Vezikro " which is translated as "May his name and memory be blotted out." This is a term that is used by anti-missionaries [those against Jesus]
