Are Calvinists Christian?

If as you say "God in eternity knew (us) intimately in his eternal Son", why was it necessary for man to sin and come short of the Glory of God? If Eternal God knew from before the foundation of the world who were good and who were bad, why did he subject ALL to living this natural life.

Did we need this natural life to have a spirit? God is spirit and if He knew us before the foundation of the world, He knew us as spirits. When we die, our spirit departs our flesh, so it is from spirit we are, and in spirit we live...the spirit is the life of the flesh.

So, why the flesh?

• Why not try us as spirits and cast the bad ones into the lake of fire and give the Good ones to Jesus his Son?</font>
• Why this brief, less than 120 planetary circumnavigations around a small star called Sol, that we call "life"?</font>
• What is the purpose of this life if the outcome is already known?</font>
• Is it so God can brag to the Council of Gods that his plan works? Oops! God said there is no other God, that he knows none, He has no one that he must answer to!</font>
• So, why the flesh?</font>
• Why a brain?</font>
• Why the ability to reason?</font>
• Why the ability to choose?</font>
• Why the ability to "Hear".</font>
• Why!</font>

 

Calvin never secured salvation for anyone. Christians are those who follow Christ. Christ has every reason to command our obedience. But I will never follow any man ahead of Christ. Christ is first. Every man will fail but Christ never does. I place no stock in JEan Calvin or his theology but scripture. I think Luther stated his thesis well when under scrutiny from the RCC.

 

Yelsew... I did not intend it as a slap in the face but as an afformation of fact... Calvinist are christian the same as Arminians are christians... To many on here are testing anothers christianity... I say mind your own beeswax and worry about your own relationship between you and your God and not your brother or sisters relationship to their God... If we did that wouldn't this board be a better place... In my heart I feel it will but then I speak my mind!... My christianity is between me and my God the same as yours... Will we EVER LEARN that?... I wonder!... Brother Glen

 

All of which Calvin would agree with. He simply referred to the Bible as the basis for the Reformed Faith. And Luther, of course, agreed fully with Calvin on the doctrines of Grace. Calvin, after all, did not call his teachings "Calvinism," nor did Luther refer to his as "Lutheranism." They were both just pastors exegeting scripture for the benefit of their congregations.

 

Bro Glen, I've never said that Calvinists, or anyone one else for that matter, are not Christian. I have stated what scriptures tell us marks a Christian, though in my own words.

I have oft stated that there are Christians in virtually every church in the world, but not all persons in every church in the world are Christians.
