    paidagogos, Greg Linscott,

I appologize to you both. I am afraid I ran with my first impression on the thread. I have not read the article, and I sincerely doubt that I will (I can get pretty hot pretty quick when someone pushes my doctrinal button...but I guess you both sort of figured that one out already).

    I am a fundamentalist, not a Fundamentalist (small 'f', not a capitol).

I understand how one could call the SBC "liberal". It wasn't so very long ago that the leaders of the SBC were extremely liberal. Thankfully, conservatives haev made many inroads (not enough for me) into the leadership structure of the SBC.

I have never attended a "liberal" SBC church, nor will I knowing ever do so. I have no stomach for such malarky (the doctrinal button again), and would much rather break bread with a group of radical conservatives any day.

I mentioned the KJV factor because it is usually a sticking point for the Fundamentalists that I know. "If it was good enough for Peter and Paul...".

I am sorry that I came down so hard. I'm really a rather mellow guy. But I figure it is better to be trigger-happy than complacent when it comes to doctrinal issues, huh?

    In Christ,
    Trotter

I don't think you'd get all that fired up (of course I'm not an SBCer, so that's easy for me to say). The article is very academic in its approach, and makes a distinction between the movements without pointing fingers.

    Thanks for your post!
