Are we the last generation?

Israel today is not a "sign of anything" -- as long as it remains in rebellion against it's own Messiah.

The sign of the time - is more along the lines of Dan 8 where the "time of the end" is clearly identified as coming at the end of the 2300 year timeline prophecy.

According to that timeline - were are at the time of the end.

Others have argued that the earth has been in a state of sin and rebellion for about 6000 years and that the 7th 1000 year period will be the millennium of Rev 20.

We have no idea if this is the last generation. Instead of concerning ourselves with such speculation, we all need to live as though each day will be our last one on this earth.

WHY NOT?

 

Probably not, but then again,it could be .... all I know is that it is all in God's hands and He will do what is right in His timing.

No. There is no prophecy that was made AFTER Israel returned from Babylonian captivity that predicted another diaspora and another return for Israel as a sign of the end.

None.

"No not even one" - as I am so fond of saying.

But we DO have bible prophecies given WHILE Israel was in Babylonian captivity and some even BEFORE they went into captivty saying that one day they would return.

Hint: That return from Babylonian captivity already happened -- and THEN in 70 AD they were defeated/destroyed and during Hadrian's reign they were wiped out of Israel a desolation lasting for 500 years! (Longer than from Solomon to the time of Christ!) and then still in a decimated stated for more than 500 more years (longer than the entire OT period of existence for Israel) and even to this day STILL not a nation that has returned to God the Messiah etc.

In Dan 8 the end of the 2300 year timeline is called "the time of the end". We live in that age.

We have just completed or are about to complete our 6000 years of sin -- with the millennium just around the corner.

Look up - your redemption draweth nigh.

However we know that the Rev 16 "seven last plagues" event must occur before the Rev 19 second coming event described in Matt 24 and in 1Thess 4 and in John 14:1-3.

In 2Thess 2 Paul said that the 2nd coming would not happen until the church apostacy of the dark ages came -- (and that already happened) and until the man-of-sin phenomina was extended to the point of Satan himself impersonating Christ and working with all lying signs and wonders -- that has not happened yet.

Christ could come today, I believe, I proclaim, I rejoice in! I have seen all the signs of the absolute possibility of my expectation: I have seen in the Word of God the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The ONLY sign for all believers since Adam and the Apostles of Jesus' Second Advent. "Come Lord Jesus, Come!"

 

Every generation since the resurection of Christ has thought it was the last.

We could be the last, but it may also be many years away.

I would prefer just to leave it in God's hands. I am quite sure He can handle it.

 

I am very supportive of being prepared for Christ's return, as every generation before us, because of the belief that our generation could be the last.

I am very critical of those who are supportive of wars and neglecting the stewardship of God's creation because they believe this will be the last or that those things will somehow bring about Christ's return.

 

Not only have you spoken for me, but if any thing, history has thought us to stay clear of those who compute the end of the world.

Unfortunately such a misunderstanding of scripture
as 'the things we can do will make the Church Age
end faster' come from a common /but wrong/ reading of
this verse:

2 Peter 3:12 (Geneva Bible, 1599 Edition):
Looking for, and hasting vnto the comming
of that day of God, by the which the heauens
being on fire, shall be dissolued,
and the elements shall melt with heate?

There is no way that we can 'make faster' the comming
of the Day of God. That wasn't even a possible meaning
when the 16th Century (1501-1600) translation was
made.

2 Peter 3:12 (HCSB = Christian Standard Bible /Holman, 2003/ ):
[FONT=Arial, Geneva, Helvetica]as you wait for and earnestly desire
the coming of the day of God,
because of which the heavens will be on fire and be dissolved,

Note as frequently Strong's does, the KJV translation
is appended on the end, just cause ther KJV translated
it that way.

May we pray this is our last day? I don't think so, but do believe it could be God's will, and therefore shall pray that this day be according to the will of our heavenly Father, in life or in death.
