His work was called :The Letters of St.Paul With The Letter To The Hebrews. It's the 8th edition released from Moody Press back in 1950. The 2nd edition of 1906 included the book of Hebrews.Way said of his translation that is explanatory in nature, that it "expanded the sense." He also said it was a "condensed commentary." He did not want his work depreciated as merely a paraphrase.

I much prefer the 20th Century New Testament from the same time period. Way is "way" too wordy;unnecessarily so. And I think tended to be too liberal theologically.

Following are some snips from the book of Romans.

5:14 : that transgression and this free gift are in inverse proportion
6:1 : if this grace bears such a transcendent ratio to the sin
6:19 : I am but employing a figure drawn from human relations,as a concession to the very human weakness of your comprehension
8:3 : it was impotent to control the animal nature
    8:22 : All God's sentient universe,I trow,is sighing with one great voice
8:26 : We are not even sure what boons should rightly be the object of our prayers
9:16 : This shows that God's mercy does not depend on human will,or on human effort, but on His own fiat.
9:20 : Who are you, that you, mere human creature that you are, dare arraign God?
9:22 : bore very patiently with those vessels that brimmed with His wrath
11:13 : I insist upon the grandeur of my function
12:2 : Do not conform to the externalities of this world

I am not a fan of Way's translation. He is too wordy and pompous. The 20th Century New Testament which came out around the same time was done much better.

It reminds me of the Harwood translation, but not quite so verbose; although there appears to be some gold among the dross.

Yeah,Edward Harwood really took the cake and ran with it. Regarding the Transfiguration he has peter saying: "Oh,Sir! what a delectable residence we might establish..."

    What a repulsive affectation.
