I guess some might consider it a sign that a Baptist minister is silenced by lightning traveling down the mic, enveloping him and just for good measure proceeding to blow out the sound system. Or that the church erupted in flames and put the congregation out to the tune of $20,000. I for one would call it "nature's course."
Now Stephen III, You know no worth his salt Baptist minister NEEDS a sound system!
True story. The leading church here was once a small, factious church that regularly fired pastors. When the current pastor (here now over 30 years) was young, two old deacons were after his hide. One said in a business meeting, "we'll do that over my dead body," to some plan for evangelism that the young pastor floated. The deacon died, quite unexpectedly, on Saturday. The other one died, also unexpectedly, a couple of months later. That reallly cured the problem. Now the church runs 1,000 on Sunday morning, and the young pastor is still there (though not so young now).
Mat 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign
Somehow, I think that this preacher and church were not seeking THIS sign, any more than the deceased deacons I mentioned in my post.
